Chantelle Winnie – An Inspirational Woman
When Desigual asked me to support them at New York fashion week via my blog, I jumped at the chance. This is a brand that I have admired for many years and I have a number of their fabulous dresses, handbags and more. What made the opportunity even more special is that they are working with Chantelle Winnie (aka Winnie Harlow) which is a name that some of you may be familiar with from America’s Next Top Model. Winnie suffers with a skin condition called Vitiligo which is a rare skin pigment disorder. In her younger years Winnie was bullied because of this condition, but today she stands proud as one of the brightest and upcoming models of the future. What I find so inspiring about Winnie is her attitude. Although I have never met Winnie, the stories I read (and I know you shouldn’t believe everything you read online) are stories that should inspire people. She pretty much says, yeah so I have a skin condition, what does that stop me doing? It’s a message I hope to project via my blog, that life is only ever as good as you make it. Grasp every opportunity with both hands, regret only what you didn’t do, not what you did and be proud of who you are. She’s a woman who could have easily turned away from a life of modelling and fashion, claiming it’s just too hard, but she hasn’t and she is an inspiration to us all.
I picked up a quote from Desigual – “She is pure inspiration, a whirlwind of positive energy, an example of strength and achievement, who demonstrates that we are all special and can achieve what we set out to do." Which I hope echoes what LifeLoving is all about. Winnie has been chose to be the face of the Desigual’s ‘Say Something Nice’ campaign and will be a star at New York Fashion Week, this week. I wish her luck and want to follow her career with interest. Keep up the good work Winnie, you are a truly inspiring person and we need more people like you. Find out more about Winnie and Desigual
