Meal Planner

I’m a big fan of our meal planner. Years ago, we used to just keep a staple of everything in the cupboard and cook up what we fancied each night. That was until my friend told me that they plan each meal out in advance. I thought this was a great idea and decided to try it out. We wrote our planned meals out on the calendar and then added things to a shopping list.

One birthday, my brother and sister came to my house to secretly decorate it. They were quite tickled to see that on my calendar it didn’t say ‘my birthday’ it said ‘ham, egg and chips’. It obviously stuck with my sister, as the following Christmas she bought me a beautiful meal planner and matching shopping list. It was magnetic so it stuck on my fridge. Perfect. I didn’t even know these existed before then. Now I would be lost without it. We plan all our meals in advance and it saves us loads on shopping each week. You see, we used to buy things that we didn’t have a plan for, so sometimes things would go to waste. Also, planning in advance allows you to work out what options might be more cost effective as you can use certain ingredients in more than one dish.

So in light of my discovery. I thought I’d share five of my favourite meal planners that are both gorgeous and inexpensive. The initial investment will be easily recouped in just one shop. Happy meal planning!

  1. I had no idea you could buy meal planners! They all look fab although I think the bottom one is my favourite! It's something I have been meaning to do but never got round too. These would make it so easy! Thank you for sharing with us at #BloggerClubUK hope to see you again this week X

I live by my meal planner. It's my life saver when I can't think after a busy day. I'm actually looking at them myself as mine is almost run out. I couldn't go a week without it.

  2. Nordic nights looks super cute! I find when we plan meals our week runs so much smoother. My hubby plus 3 kids and I have been staying with my parents whilst our new home is getting finished off (10 days to go) so we have been disorganised lately and find I am running to the shops way to often, so annoying! (especially when living in a country town that has no grocery store!) Looking forward to be more organised in my new place! Thank you for linking up with #mg xx

It's adorable isn't it Mackenzie. Oh wow. Sounds like you have a lot going on. No wonder you are counting down the days. Good luck with the move.

  3. This is a really good idea I can really struggle with inspiration for the kiddies sometimes and this would help no end! Definitely a fab idea xx #bloggclubuk

I know what you mean. It makes things so much easier when you know what you are having in advance. No messing around in the evening.

Ahh, you'll have to drop some hints to friends of family Fran - they'll not be stuck for a present next birthday.

  4. I try to meal plan, and I succeed about 1-2 weeks... Then work, girls, life come into scene and I'm again behind it. But I have to admit it helps me a lot to plan in advance, not to wait until I am starving and then open the fridge to see what I can cook.

I would love to invite you to share this with us at our new Sweet Inspiration party, http://sweethings.net/sweet-inspiration-link-party1/

    Have a wonderful week, Sally!

I couldn't be without mine now Pili, but I know what you mean. It's quite time consuming. Thanks for the invite, I'll pop over later and join in as I missed the first week.

  5. We meal plan! I could definitely use a better system like this, though. We've got a shopping list system where we write a list of meals rather than ingredients, then list anything else we need, otherwise the list would be huge!

  6. great idea - I tend to buy with a general idea of what we'll eat for the week in mind - not organized into days though - these planners look great 🙂
