Oh Lola

Let me just start by saying I love paella. You may have noticed this from my trip to Barcelona. We loved the food there, especially the paella.

Oh Lola are a Spanish company, who following their success in Spain, have set up their first outlet in London. Located in Hatton Garden, we stopped for a bite to eat there whilst out shopping.

We were served by two lovely chaps who offered us the choice of either chicken, fish or vegetarian paella. We went for the chicken paella. It was served in a beautiful branded box with cutlery.

We decided to eat inside the Oh Lola restaurant. There was a small amount of casual dining tables and stools inside, so we chose one right by the open doors. It was a lovely sunny day.

I’m sure what you really want to know is, how was the food? Well the paella was superb. It was seasoned well. The meat delicious, and the rice was cooked through wonderfully. It all added up to a very delicious dish.

Whilst we were eating our yummy paella, one of the chaps working there brought over a small box for us. Inside was a side dish. I’m not 100% sure what was in it. It definitely had potato and some kind of fish (which I assume was tuna), it was in a creamy sauce and had veggies in it. It was a bit like a potato salad with fish in it. Whatever it was, it was fresh tasting and the potato was cooked to perfection. It was delicious.

What I liked most, apart from the food, was that the paella was clearly cooked fresh in front of you. The kitchen was set up behind a big glass screen and you could see the paella being prepped and then cooked. I asked if I could take some photos – I’ve literally never seen a paella pan that big. The lovely people cooking and serving offered me to come round and have a photo with the big paella pan, which I was really chuffed about.

Oh Lola

All in all, an excellent lunch experience. I’m sure Oh Lola will do well as people are crying out for great quality, inexpensive lunches. Our paella was just £6.50 each, which is incredibly good value for a hot lunch in London. They also do a selection of tapas too. We’ll definitely be popping back next time we are in or around the Hatton Garden area.

  1. I wish that they had this restaurant in the United States too. I love paella and Tapas. How fun that it was made right in front of you and they were so willing to allow you to take pictures and even pose with you. That paella pan is absolutely huge! I love that photo.

It surprises me that the states doesn't have tapas or paella readily available. Maybe that's what you should do next Nikki? I know. They were so kind to let me pose with it. I didn't ask they just offered.

  2. I'm always put off paella because I'm not a big seafood fan so I think a chicken alternative would be fab. It looks delicious. And I think £6.50 is fab value for anywhere, but especially London!

It was truly delicious Louise. I'll definitely be popping back for lunch when I'm around the area.

You're absolutely right Kirsty. It would be a sin not to have paella on a Spanish holiday. £6.50 is fantastic for a hot lunch in London. Especially one as yummy as this.
