We recently travelled to Indonesia for our honeymoon. One of the places we stayed in was the island of Lombok. Lombok is next door to the popular, Bali and although it shares the same expanse of water, the two islands have very vibes. Bali was quite busy, with motorbikes and tourists everywhere you looked in the main towns. Lombok was much more laid back. The roads were quieter for a start!

Lombok is also an island of mixed religion, the population is pretty much split half way between Hindus and Muslins, Bali swings much more towards the Hindu side. It was evident when you spent time in the towns in Lombok, as you could hear the prayer call.

Whilst we were in Lombok, we stayed at the Puri Mas Hotel, located in Senggigi. The hotel its self is split across two sites. The main hotel, where the beachfront properties and pool are located and the spa, just 2km away where there are some more beautiful villas and of course the spa.

We stayed in one of the Royal Suites at Puri Mas Hotel and enjoyed beautiful views out over the pool, across the ocean. In the distance, on the island of Bali, we could see the infamous Mount Agung. We were on volcano watch the whole time we were in Indonesia. Back to the hotel though, the room was set up for honeymooners when we arrived, with a beautiful floral arrangement on the bed and in the extra-deep bath.

We had spent the five days previously in Bali, in the jungle, so it was a lovely contrast to come to somewhere right on the beach and try out my new bikini and sunhat.

There’s so much to love about this hotel. We took full advantage of all the facilities on offer here. The sunbeds are comfortable and the hotel supplies towels for the guests. There’s a private beach. The spa is amazing. I had a wonderful relaxing facial whilst I was there and my husband had a sound massage. I bet you are wondering what that is! The hotel had even had a water cooler in our room, so guests didn’t have to go out to buy water. I know many hotels charge extortionate prices for water which is a complete rip off. There was also an onsite dive hut, where you could hire equipment to enjoy snorkelling, which Indonesia is famous for. We went into the sea for a swim, it was so warm, you wouldn’t need to hire wetsuits to do this.

The food was extraordinary. We dined at the hotel every evening as we enjoyed the selection, quality and service so much. The views from the restaurant were also beautiful, again overlooking the ocean.

One night we booked an evening meal consisting of the Rijsttafel menu, which is a bit like tapas. Lot of small dishes, allowing you to sample a lot of different flavours. Although the portions were actually quite sizeable and we weren’t able to finish it all. We enjoyed our meal in the Japanese Pavilion at the spa part of the hotel, which was an amazing experience. Even if it was a tad uncomfortable sitting at the very low Japanese table. The hotel puts on free private shuttles for guests travelling to and from the two sites.

I can’t sing the hotel’s praises enough. We were well looked after and we would definitely go back. The hotel cost us around £650 for four nights, bed and breakfast. We’d love to head back to Lombok and we’d love to stay again at this hotel. Have a look at some more pictures and book here.
