Stay Hydrated

Stay Hydrated

The body needs water to function. The water in your body will help with many physical processes, including the movement of oxygen, controlling your body temperature, assisting with digestion and also the movement of waste from your system.

If you don’t drink enough fluids, you could become dehydrated and it is likely that you will find concentrating quite a challenge, so stay hydrated for your brain’s sake.

Tips for staying hydrated

The recommendation on how much water you should drink is 6 – 8 8oz glasses per day.

I always carry a bottle of water with me.

If I need a refill as I’m out and about, I pop in to a café, hotel or pub and ask them to refill it for me.

I rarely buy fizzy drinks as these are often full of sugar and I’m a firm believer that you shouldn’t drink sugary drinks regularly. My parents brought us up on water and we’ve got them to thank for our healthy teeth.

If you are going out for a meal, always ask for a jug of water for the table. It will counteract any dehydration through drinking alcohol with your meal and best of all, it’s free!

Make sure you have water readily available when you are exercising. There’s nearly always a water fountain at the gym and if you are out for a run, somewhere along the way there will be a venue where you can stop and ask them to refill your water bottle.

I’m a big fan of Ohyo collapsible water bottles. They are kind to the environment, as they are reusable. When you are finished with the bottle, you can just squish it down and pop it in your bag or pocket. It’s so convenient. The 1L bottle even comes with a carabiner clip on it. They are super handy to take with you to the airport, as you can take them empty though all the check in procedures and then fill them up when you are in departures. Perfect when you need to stay hydrated on a flight.

I keep my little Ohyo bottle with me when I’m travelling on the train for work and my big bottle is better for when we go out for a long walk. If you are looking for reusable water bottles, you should definitely check Ohyo out, as their bottles come with a lifetime guarantee.

Ohyo are also crowdfunding for a new product they are working on. It’s called the Ohyo bag and it’s a bag which can adapt and grow with your needs through the day. It’s very cool and a great idea. You can get involved now through Kickstarter. Here’s a quick video about the bag.

So head over now if you’d like to pledge your support.

Disclosure: Ohyo gifted me my water bottles, but as always, my opinions are my own.

  1. Since being pregnant I’ve been carrying a bottle around with me every day – it’s amazing how much liquid I have gone through!! Lol! I am hoping it’s a habit I will be able to keep up once the baby is born. Love the foldable bottle I am sure something like this for Monkey would be ideal. Thank you for joining us at #BloggerClubUK hope to see you again this week X

Well done you. So many people forget to carry a drink with them, then end up buying plastic bottles. It’s a great habit to get into. Thanks for hosting.

  2. I’ve been trying to drink more water recently and I have found my skin is a lot clearer than it was so I’m definitely going to keep it up 🙂 oh and my boys love sugar free vimto 😉

Thanks for linking up to #PicknMix

    Stevie x

Good for you Stevie. Yes it’s supposed to be very good for the skin. Ahh, more of the vimto gang. That’s lovely stuff too.

I know exactly what you mean. If I drink a lot quickly, I feel like it’s sloshing around inside of me.

  3. I’m definitely guilty of not drinking enough water. I fill a glass in the morning and then I reach for the coffee. Ugh! Coffee is a diuretic so that doesn’t help. 🙂 I like the collapsible bottle. It’s a great idea. Thanks

    • Sally Sally says:

Well at least you fill the glass. That’s a lot more than a lot of people. The collapsible bottle is great, so convenient to carry round and refill.

  4. I do not drink enough water, or liquid in general. I’m fully aware of this but I struggle to do it. I’m just not a thirsty person and I’m not a huge fan of water. I tend to drink Suger free Vimto and diet coke. Not great but it’s better than nothing i suppose #BloggerClubUK

I love sugar free vimto. My other half jokes that I’m the only person in the world who drinks it, clearly I’m not. Yes it’s all still fluids.
