This is a collaborative post
India has some of the most diverse and exciting wildlife on the planet. With over 100 national parks out there, India tours offer endless amazing animal adventures. Below, we explore four of the best national parks in India, where you can expect to see some of the world’s most incredible animals.
Ranthambhore National Park
Ranthambhore National Park is perfect if you are dreaming of seeing India’s famous Bengal tigers. The park was previously the hunting ground of the Maharaja of Jaipur, but now its iconic inhabitants are well protected. Ranthambhore is named after the 10th-century fort at the heart of the park: you might be lucky enough to spot tigers strolling along old regal pavilions. You may also spot these striped predators bathing or drinking on the lake edge. As well as tigers, Ranthambhore houses an incredible array of birds to go alongside amazing predators such as wild dogs, hyenas, and leopards.

Bandhavgarh National Park
Bandhavgarh National Park offers more delights when you visit India for a wildlife holiday. This park is famous for offering beautiful hot air balloon safaris, allowing you to survey the stunning landscape and wildlife from above. It is more difficult to include in a standard India itinerary than many of the country’s other parks, but if you spot an ethereal white tiger which is said to hide here, it will more than compensate for the time and effort of your journey.
Hemis National Park
Hemis National Park is the largest national park in India, hidden away in the remote Ladakh region. Unlike the parks already discussed, Hemis is a high-altitude park, creating an environment that is covered in snow all year round. And there are all sorts of different activities to enjoy as well as a typical jeep drive. Travellers can visit the famous Hemis monastery that’s existed for over 1000 years. Or, if you are feeling active, you can enjoy many exciting treks and hikes with the climb to Gotsang Gumpa being one of the most memorable. And of course, there are spellbinding safaris that offer you a glimpse at some of the most thrilling arctic wildlife in the world including the elusive snow leopard.
Nagarhole National Park
Finally, there’s the Nagarhole National Park. With the Kabini River flowing through the centre of this space, it is a haven for all sorts of different wildlife. What’s more, its rich forest cover means that it provides a completely different experience from the other parks in this guide. Some of its most famous inhabitants include the Indian elephant, Indian leopard and Sambar deer. It also contains a massive array of birds, making it the perfect wildlife destination in India for anyone with a keen interest in birdwatching.
