Playmobil 1.2.3 Review
Disclamer: We were gifted some items from the Playmobil 1.2.3 range, but as always, my opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.
Playmobil has been around in the UK for 40 years this year. It’s a well-loved brand and I remember fondly the Playmobil sets I used to play with as a kid. One of my personal favourites was the roundabout which I could add my Playmobil people to and then spin to give them a ride.
Austin is a little young for Playmobil, being only 21 months old, or so I thought! It turns out that Playmobil has a range called Playmobil 1.2.3 which is specifically designed for little ones of his age. The age range given for Playmobil 1.2.3 is 1 & ½ to 4 years.

We were sent some of the range for Austin to try out. So we’ve been playing and we’d like to share our Playmobil 1.2.3 review with you.

Learning and Playing with Playmobil 1.2.3
I’ll start by giving you a little bit of background behind the Playmobil 1.2.3 range. There are three stages to the toys. The first is called Easy Start. These are simple figures. Ours was a Police Officer with a Dog, which Austin couldn’t have been more thrilled with. He loves ‘nee-nors’ and dogs so it was a great concept to introduce him to. He’s probably never really thought much about the emergency vehicles he identifies with by sound, and so it was interesting to explain to him who drives these vehicles and what their role is.

Stage Two
The second stage is called First Challenge. This stage is more complex toys that are designed to help fine motor skills and working with cause-and-effect, something Austin knows very well. I pick up many things which have been thrown from his highchair!
Our second stage was the Dog Train Car. Two figurines, one of which rides in the dog train. There is a double-sided slipper/bone which can be attached to the dog’s mouth and then the dog can be pulled along. The figures are two different sizes, obviously designed to be an adult and a child, which is another interesting concept to explore more with your little ones.

Given the nature of what’s going on with the world. Austin spends time with other children at nursery, but he doesn’t spend time with my friends and family who have children of their own. So his understanding of adults and children might be somewhat different from what it would have been in more normal circumstances. Before he went to nursery, he also spent a very long time only seeing my husband and myself – luckily he seems to have adapted to nursery well. But toys like this can help explain relationships.
Stage Three
This is a whole playset, where the child can start to use their imagination and role-play a little. They can explore the more advanced features of the sets and work out interesting ideas on how they play and interact with the different elements. Our Playmobil 1.2.3 playset was the Take Along Pre-School which had so many elements to it – Austin was fascinated.

Playmobil 1.2.3 Review
Austin embraced that the playset folded up and he could carry it around with him. The handle is chunky and the sets are lightweight, so he could easily transport it. He couldn’t work the little flower which keeps the set closed, it was a bit stiff for him, but I’m sure that will come in time.
He was interested in the figures that came in the sets. They were a good size for him to hold. He was able to bend the legs of the people and sit them in the dog train, the swing and put them down the slide – something he got very excited about. He was shouting ‘whee’ as the people were going down the slide.

He was very interested in the door on the playset. As soon as we get the playset out, he waits for you to put either the dog or a person on the inside of the pre-school door and then opens the door and looks through. He greets the person with a cheery ‘hello’. I think this is a reflection of his interest in the doors at home. He’s always trying to open and close the doors around our house.

The swing and the roundabout on the playset are great interactive toys for toddlers. It’s interesting to watch him sit the figures down and then concentrate as he places them in either piece. Once they are seated, he is very focused on giving them a push.
Austin found the Playmobil 1.2.3 fun to play with and there are lots of different elements for him to continue to explore the sets and carry on playing with for a long time to come.

It’s really great that Playmobil has launched a range designed for the toddler age group. Playmobil is a much-cherished favourite in this household and holds happy memories for us. There are lots of other playsets across the Playmobil 1.2.3 range, so if you are looking for a toy or a gift for a toddler, take a look at the range.
