The Dubai Fountain

The Dubai Fountain is so large and bright it can be seen from space. In fact it’s the world’s largest fountain. You’d be a fool not to go and see one of the shows if you are in Dubai. It is truly breath-taking.

The evening shows are the best, in my opinion, as the fountain is lit up against the black skies. The fountain dance is set to a mixture of Arabic, classical and world music. There are over six and a half thousand lights and 25 projectors. The water shoots over 140 feet in the air (equivalent to a 45-story building).

The evening shows start at 6pm each day and run every 30 minutes, until 11pm. You can get to the fountain via the back exit at the Dubai Mall.

I loved the fountain show. The backdrop against the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building) is awesome. I loved the music, the way the lights and the water danced. But if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll remember how excited I got about seeing the Magic Fountain in Barcelona.

If you want to get close and personal with the fountain, you can book a seat on one of traditional abra boats at show time and you can enjoy the spectacle from the water. This currently cost 65 dirham (about £12.50).

So if you are travelling to Dubai, you should definitely add a visit to the Dubai Mall to check out the Dubai fountain show to your hit list. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

  1. Sally, once again you have taken me along with you on your travels. I am inspired by the places you go and I'm grateful that you share them with us.

I love fountains and I can't imagine one shooting 140 feet in the air, that is amazing, and that the water stream does what it's supposed to, being a part of the show. So cool.

I do remember the fountain in Barcelona, I had a great time visiting that one vicariously through you too! Thanks!

I think you and I are in the same boat Nikki (no pun intended). I love a fountain show. From this article, I have learnt that I should go and see the fountain show at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. So might have to start saving the pennies for that.

  2. This sounds gorgeous! How cool you can see it from space - it must be massive! I love that they are show many shows per day so you can definitely get over to see one. It's really beautiful at night. Thanks so much for linking up with blogger club uk x

Even though there are so many shows Becky, people turned up really early for each one to get a good view. It was really busy. But we didn't mind. Things like that generally are.

  3. Pinning this to my travel board, how cool! I lived in the middle east as a child and really hope to get back there some day.
This fountain reminds me of the fountains we have in Las Vegas, but I don't think they can be seen from the moon! 🙂

I bet that was an interesting place to grow up. I suspect it's changed a lot since you were last there. I've heard that about the fountains and Las Vegas. I really want to go, as I love a fountain show. You're so lucky Erin being closer.

I keep getting told about these Becster and no I haven't. I guess I'll just have to add a trip to Las Vegas to my hit list. Oh well!

  4. Wow I never knew that! Ive never been to Dubai, doubt that we will any time soon, but if ever we did that would be the top of my list! Amazing! #lifelovinglinkie

No it may not be the most kid-friendly trip Laura, but maybe when they are a bit bigger. It was lovely though. I love a fountain!

  5. Hi Sally I remember seeing the Bellagio Fountain in Las Vegas and we are going to Barcelona later in the year so will look out for that one. I think they are beautiful and love the way they are choreographed to music. Thanks for sharing #lovelifelinky

Oooh, I'm very jealous. I love Barcelona. I've got lots of articles about my trip if you need any inspiration for yours Sue. I've not been to Vegas though, perhaps I should go just for the fountain?

    • Sally Sally says:

I bet it is too Barbara. I am a bit gutted we didn't see the show from a boat. But hey, ho always an excuse to go back

    • Sally Sally says:

I bet it has. This is the one and only time I've been but it's so built up and quite newly built, I bet some of it is unrecognisable Patrick.

    • Sally Sally says:

Thanks Emily. Ahh, one to add to the hitlist. It was quite different to anywhere else we'd been. Very opulent.

    • Sally Sally says:

Funny you should say that, you're not the only one who noticed that. I think the Dubai fountain is much bigger though.
