3 Ways to Have Fun in Lockdown
Ad: This is a collaborative post
We’ve all had enough of lockdowns and self-isolation. Being forced to stay indoors might have been a novelty at first, but now it’s just getting in the way of the ability to live our lives as usual. It’s uncertain how much longer the current government restrictions will be in force, but it looks as though a lockdown winter is very much on the cards.
This is particularly difficult to deal with considering that Christmas is a time for getting together with family, attending office Christmas parties and reconnecting with old friends. It’s a time for festivities and fun; not being stuck inside with nothing to do.
If you are feeling disheartened by the prospect of an isolated winter, then don’t panic. There are ways to have fun this Christmas even if you are unable to leave the house. Try these three tips for having fun in lockdown, and you’ll soon find yourself getting into the Christmas spirit.
Throw a Virtual Christmas Party
There’s no use in sulking over the fact that your annual office Christmas party or festive pub excursion with your school mates is cancelled. Instead, why not throw your own party from home? Programs like Zoom and Skype allow you to host video calls with as many friends as you like. Send email invites out to your mates and ask everyone to dress up, get some drinks and snacks in, and log on at the scheduled time. Plan some Christmas-themed games and quizzes to get everyone in the festive spirit, and before long you’ll all forget that you couldn’t meet up in person. And the best bit is, once the party is over you can get straight into bed.
Do an Online Escape Room
Escape rooms are all the rage right now. Getting together with your friends to solve a difficult challenge and have fun at the same time. It’s a fantastic way to bond with people and put your intellect to their test. And you can have the same experience without even leaving the comfort of your home. There are so many websites that offer these experiences in virtual form. Try a Harry Potter-themed escape room or browse some of the most popular experiences here.
Have a Games Night
If the prospect of another boring night in front of the telly with your family or housemates is getting you down, why not try something new? Schedule a games night with everyone in the household, and you’ll soon stave off those feelings of lockdown boredom. Take things too far with the classic Cards Against Humanity or put your detective skills to the test with a 1980s murder mystery game.

There is no need to see this lockdown as a barrier to having a good time this Christmas. With a little imagination and innovation, you and your loved ones can have just as good a time from a distance. See it as an opportunity to spend more time connecting with your household and making the most of what you have.
