Annke Baby Monitor Review

The BM100 Annke Baby Monitor comes in a smart white box, complete with everything you need to be able to watch your baby from another room. Unpacking the box, you can easily see how it all fits together. A camera, a monitor, cables and plugs for both, a wall bracket, some screws, the instruction booklet and a reset pin. It’s all quite straightforward. A quick read of the instruction manual and I was good to go.
There are some great features to the Annke Baby Monitor. The monitor screen is quite large at 4.3 inches and the picture quality is very good. I’ve seen a few baby monitors over the last couple of years and this is definitely one of the clearer pictures. The night vision mode is also very clear and it’s easy to see Austin in almost pitch black. The functions on the camera are really intuitive and it’s easy to operate which I think for a new parent, who might be sleep-deprived is a great thing.

One of the best features is the rotating camera. The camera can rotate round 350 degrees horizontally and 55 degrees vertically. That’s enough to pan around the whole cot as Austin is a wriggler and sometimes it’s hard to know where he is in his cot bed! We have our monitor set up quite close to the bed as it’s a small nursery, but if you were further back, you could use it to look around the whole room – probably better if you have a toddler that isn’t confined to a cot bed the whole night.
The camera has an external temperature sensor which reads the room. This is a much better design than a lot of the inbuilt ones as they tend to read inaccurately high as the camera heats up once it’s been on a while. The sensor on the Annke Baby Monitor was pretty accurate. I would say within a degree of what the actual room was. I tested it in several rooms and was fairly accurate. There’s also an alarm feature that you can set so that if the room temperature goes too high overnight, it can alert you. That’s great if you want to keep the room at a constant temperature and you can adjust the room accordingly.
There are a couple of other alarms you can set too on the Annke Baby Monitor. One of them is a sound detection alarm and the other is a feeding alarm. I probably wouldn’t use either of those features, but I would imagine some people would.
Another really great feature of the Annke Baby Monitor is that the camera is hack-proof. I’ve read horror stories of internet-enabled devices being hacked and it chills me to the bone to think about that happening. As the camera works wirelessly without an internet connection and there’s no phone app, it gives the peace of mind that it’s much more secure than other devices. This is a feature that really appeals to me and I would hesitate to buy a device that connected through my phone.
Some additional features include a two-way talkback and a lullaby feature. These are ideal if you need to comfort your baby and you can do so without getting up. I don’t think they are features that we would use, but they are there if you want to use them. The Annke Baby Monitor is really great value for all the features you get and the quality of the product.
