Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Mini Review

Baby Austin and I really like to take trips out. We rarely spend two days in a row inside the house so it’s really important to me that I can be as mobile with him as possible. I was keen to have a carrier for him as soon as possible. It was imperative that the carrier is safe and secure for him, being so young.

After some careful research, I came across the Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Mini which is designed for newborns. Everything about this carrier is ideal for those first months when your newborn wants to be snuggled into you and won’t be put down. I’m lucky as Austin, on the whole, isn’t a clingy baby, but of course, as is natural, there are days when he is clingier than other days. This is when the carrier is perfect for around the house. You can still keep both hands free to do some of the bits and pieces you need to do. The baby carrier can take babies from 3.2kg (7lbs) right up to 11kg (24lbs).

The Baby Carrier Mini is also perfect for those times I just want to pop around the shop for a few bits. It allows me to get in and around our local shop – which is quite challenging with a pram. Austin almost always falls asleep, snuggled into me, on the way round.

The Baby Carrier was also really great when we took Austin away on his first holiday. We went down to the Meon Valley. It’s a lovely area to walk around, with lots of great scenery to admire on the way. One day out we went to the Petersfield Heath and Lake. There’s a lovely circular route around the lake but some of the route is quite narrow and it’s almost impossible for two prams to pass each other, so a carrier is ideal.

The thing that really stood out when I was looking at carriers is the softness and flexibility of the material. I wanted something that would be soft against his delicate skin. You can get the mini carriers in cotton, jersey or mesh fabric.

The carrier had to be easy to use. I would need to be able to put it on by myself and put him in by myself. The mini carrier is super easy to put on. You just put on the straps and clip in the bottom. Clip-on one side, pop baby in and then do up the other side. Finally you slide in the clips by the arm and baby is ready to go. The carrier is so easy to use and light to carry, you could easily pop it in your changing bag to use when desired.

The carrier is washable at 40 degrees which is great should there be any mishaps or if Austin is having a particularly dribbly day.

As I mentioned, the carrier is suitable to use for about 7lb upwards and it’s really easy to adjust as your baby grows. Inside the bottom part is an adjustable slider which you can move as you baby gets taller. It’s really easy to see exactly where you need to slide it to, that way you can ensure that your baby is always sitting in a carrier which is designed for their height. This is a much better idea than doing it by weight or age. As we all know babies can vary quite greatly. Once your baby is 5 months old you can use the carrier with baby facing out. I’m looking forward to this. Austin loves to look around and I think he will be very excited to look not just at Mummy!

I really enjoy walks out with Austin in his carrier and he does too! Baby Bjorn stipulate that the carrier should be used for short trips and recommend you look at one of their other carriers for longer treks. The Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Mini costs £79.99 and comes in three different materials and a variety of different colours. Perfect for your growing newborn.

  1. I never managed to get on with a baby carrier with any of my three but my sister loved hers and I know so many parents that adore them so I wish I had persevered. Thanks for linking up with #globalblogging
