Although made in the 21st century, this movie is soaked in retro 80s aesthetics. If you are thinking neon synth, buckets of gore, and heartfelt storytelling, you’d be close to exactly what to expect.

Ride the Sky (2018)

Wheels of Fire (1992)
You’ll find that this forgotten gem is a classic example of bad sports movies that are so bad, they’re good. If you’ve seen it, would you agree?
A group of high schoolers enter an underground BMX race to save their ice cream shop from a shady developer. It’s full of questionable acting, over-the-top stunts, and a plot that makes zero sense—but it’s irresistibly fun and so easy to watch.
Of course, the villain is a notorious crime boss obsessed with defeating the kids at BMX – you literally can’t make this stuff up.

You will have noticed BMX bikes in lots of other films, although these are not technically about the sport, they are still worth a mention.
In E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, a short sequence involving airborne BMX bikes remains one of the most well-known scenes in movie history. And you’ll be crazy to forget the main character in Napoleon Dynamite casually doing tricks on a dusty BMX in rural Idaho?
