Designing a Playroom

When it comes to designing a playroom for your children, then some things are definitely going to work better than others. You want to create a creative space that they can play in, but also make sure that the space is easy to clean, easy to tidy, and has everything that you need, all in one place. So what are some of the best ways to design a playroom or even a younger child’s bedroom? Here are some things to think about.
Easy To Clean Flooring
Accidents happen, and with children, there can be several. Whether it is spilt juice or a potty-training problem, having a floor that is easy to clean and will be stain-free is important. Something like carpet isn’t easy to clean. Although it is soft underfoot, it can be a nightmare if something gets spilt on it. So think about choosing flooring like engineered wood flooring, as it can be swept easily and mopped, making it a better choice. Of course, having something like a rug or foam floor pads can be a good idea in areas of a playroom, just for comfort when in the room.
Storage Bins
Having plenty of storage for things to go in is a good idea. No matter how much you imagine having labelled boxes and keeping everything organised, it won’t stay that way for long. That is why storage bins can be a good idea. There can be one for the Lego and bricks, for example, one for dolls, one for soft toys, and one for cars and trains. Then at the end of the day, you just need to put the right toy in each storage bin or box, rather than having several small boxes to pack away; don’t make the clearing away harder than it needs to be. Children can easily help to pack away using this method too.
Chalkboard Wall
We all know that children love to create and decorate our homes in their own little way, so how about creating a space for them in your home where they can do just that? A chalkboard wall can be fun, and mean that they can doodle and draw right there on the wall in their playroom. All you need is some chalkboard paint, and then a few hours to paint the wall. Of course, if you don’t want to use a whole wall, you could secure a wooden panel to the wall and use the wooden panel as the chalkboard. You can even get magnetic paint too, which could be fun to stick things too.
Table and Chairs
Although a lot of play with little ones will take place on the floor, it really helps to have a space where they can sit and play. They might use this to eat lunch, draw and paint, or read and write. Tables are good for puzzles and games too, so remember just how important these spaces can be when you start to create the playroom.
