Earth Breeze Eco Sheet Review

Since having children, I’ve gone from doing 2 – 3 loads of washing a week to doing 2 – 3 loads a day. Every day there are new piles of mucky children’s clothes that need to be dealt with. We go through washing detergent and softener like crazy, which has a massive impact on the environment in terms of the waste produced by the packaging on these products.
Now saying that I do have to be careful with what I use. Firstly I have a newborn baby and toddler with sensitive skin. Austin’s skin was so bad at one point we had to use a steroid cream on it, but it’s much better now. But I’m very wary of using anything that I think might give him a rash.
The team at Earth Breeze contacted me to see if I would like to try out their revolutionary way to wash clothes – Earth Breeze Eco Sheets. Looking through all the information about these, I jumped at the chance.
Suitable For Sensitive Skin
The sheets are phosphate and paraben-free, vegan, and free of chlorine dyes, and bleaches, which means I could be reassured that they probably would be suitable for sensitive skin. On trying the sheets for a couple of weeks, there have been no issues whatsoever.
Convenience
Quite often when I’m loading our washing machine, I’m either doing it quickly or one-handed as I’m juggling a small baby in the other arm. Earth Breeze’s Eco Sheets are literally a breeze. They come out of the packet easily and I just toss them into the drum on top of the washing. No unscrewing, no measuring – no hassle. I can do this one-handed and because they dissolve in the wash there’s nothing to remove at the end – apart from the clothes of course. Now that may not seem a big deal to you, but believe me, it’s made my life easier!
Environmentally Friendly
Now, this is the biggie. Because they are sheets, they have a tiny packet. So there are no plastic bottles of liquid, no plastic tubs of pods, no plastic whatsoever. The packet they come in is around A5 size and is fully biodegradable, so you can pop it in your compost when you are done and there’s no waste to go in the bin. Impressive eh?
Also because the product is so much smaller (and lighter) than traditional washing detergents, it will cost less to transport it, meaning that its carbon footprint is smaller.
Effectiveness
So the big question is does it clean as well as the leading brands? The answer is yes. I’ve tried it on whites, lights, towels, bedding, darks and even my bathmat. It cleans every bit as well as using traditional tabs or liquids. The Fresh Scent Eco Sheets are delicately fragranced and leave a very light scent on your clothes, the fragrance-free obviously do not. I would say that there is less of a scent than some of the other detergents I have used in the past, but perhaps it’s because fewer nasties are going into them. I’m not an expert on washing chemicals, so I won’t comment on what is in other brands.
I haven’t needed to use a fabric softener in addition to the Eco Sheets, so there is another saving here in terms of cutting down plastic waste and also a cost saving.
Cost
If you are buying a one-off pack of the Eco Sheets, it does work out a bit more expensive than buying a washing detergent and a fabric softener, when you compare 40 washes, but if you subscribe to receive at least 40 sheets per 4 months, you could definitely make a saving on your washing bill. There’s no contract and you can cancel at any time, so there’s really nothing to lose.
