Harrods Afternoon Tea
The Harrods Tea Rooms are a real treat if you are looking for somewhere special to have afternoon tea. I took my best friend for her 40th birthday and it was a really lovely afternoon.

When coming for afternoon Tea at Harrods, you need to head for the fourth floor of the famous department store in Knightsbridge where you will be warmly greeted and shown to your table.

We had the champagne afternoon tea so not only could we choose from their extensive selection of teas, but we also enjoyed a glass of bubbly. I was pregnant at the time of visiting, so I was offered a glass of non-alcoholic champagne which was a lovely touch. A lot of places don’t offer non-alcoholic champagne, so it was nice to be included.

The sandwich selection was exquisite. The sandwiches included salt beef, egg and black truffle and smoked salmon with lemon cream cheese. All of which were very delicious.

When the sandwiches were served, they were brought out on a stand with some very delicious-looking cakes. They were so pretty and looked too good to eat (almost). Of course, we ate them and we enjoyed them. Our cake highlights were the Ruby Raspberry Sphere, which was a Ruby chocolate whipped ganache centred with a raspberry gel coated in a pink white chocolate glaze, freeze-dried raspberries and sitting on a Pistachio Dacquoise and the Hazelnut Plaisir Sucre. This dessert consisted of layers of hazelnut dacquoise, hazelnut crunch and milk chocolate hazelnut ganache encased in a chocolate and hazelnut nutshell, topped with milk chocolate Chantilly. How amazing do they sound?

You are also offered plain and raisin scones with cream and jam. Or in my cake butter and jam as I’m not a fan of clotted cream.
Tea-wise, there are lots of options, but I tried the No. 49 Blend 1849, which was originally made in honour of Harrods’s 150th birthday. This was delicious but after a couple of cups, I had to switch to the No. 191 Decaffeinated English Breakfast which is just like their traditional English Breakfast Tea but as a decaff version.

As we were enjoying our afternoon tea, we were people-watching and being treated to some peaceful piano music being played in the tea room. It was truly an afternoon to enjoy.
Harrods’s afternoon tea costs £62 per person, so definitely is one of the more pricey afternoon teas in London, but is well worth it if you are celebrating something special.

To be honest, those finger sandwiches look stunning. But I’m a foodie, and I guess like all foodies, it’s the mini pastries that always get me going!
I have not tried the Harrods afternoon tea yet, and it’s going on my bucket list!
