How to Raise an Inquisitive Child
This is a collaborative post
Inquisitiveness is in all of us and should be a skill we utilise a lot more in everyday life. It’s also something your child should feel like they can feel and use all the time – it’s how we often grow into creative and curious individuals.
Here are some ways you can raise a child that’s teeming with inquisitiveness and curiosity.
Use the great outdoors
A good way to make children keen to explore the world is to get outside and see what’s out there. Nature – trees, plant life, birds and other animals and creatures – all have a big part to play in understanding our natural curiosity and keenness to explore. You could find places right on your doorstep, or head out on a little adventure with your family and make a day of it together.

Take time to head out on unique trips together
Something that is often used in schools is getting out of the classroom and finding something new to enjoy. Just like this independent school in London, that thrives on getting their students out and exploring, you can do this from home just as easily. This could be a visit to the museum, trying out a new activity together or heading to the zoo or a safari park.
Use different techniques that spark creativity
Being creative is a big part of who we all are. It’s a good way to get all of us, not just children, thinking about our curious world. Having that in mind is a good way of helping your child be more inquisitive and engaged. For example, try arts and crafts activities on different days; mix up when you plan free play time; take the chance to have surprises ready for your child to keep them on their toes. It all helps your child feel like they can do anything and want to explore new things.
