When you are moving into a new home, you’ll always want to make sure that you are going to be happy with where you move into. In order for that to be the case, there are a lot of things that you will need to check and look into when you are moving in. In this post, we’ll take a look specifically at a few important checks that you should make on any new home to ensure that it is going to be a good home for you to live in with your family or alone.

Plumbing
One of the most important things you need to make sure of is that the plumbing is working as it should. As long as it is, that’s going to mean you have less to worry about – less in the way of water damage and so on, and also so much less trouble overall. So it’s vital that you are getting the plumbing right and checking it over, including all pipes, every 42MM Elbow and whatever else there might be to check. You’ll find that this is really important and could save you a lot of trouble later on.
Electrics
Just as important, if not more so, is the electrics. Anything being wrong with the electrics could be a huge safety matter as well as making a home less liveable, so it’s definitely vital that you are keeping on top of this. And of course, unless you are qualified yourself, you’ll need to call in a professional electrician to look at this. They should be able to tell you whether you have any problems or not and how to fix them and do that for you, and it’s important that this is done before you actually move in, for safety’s sake most of all.
Foundation
You certainly want your new home to have a strong foundation, too. If it doesn’t, this is the kind of thing that can prove quite tricky, and you might find that you are going to struggle to feel safe and relaxed in your home. As it happens, there are quite a few ways to check the foundation of a property, from the walls and doors to whether the floors seem to be lopsided at all. Any signs at all of a poor foundation should be taken seriously so that you can ensure you are going to fix it as soon as possible.
Damp
Finally, make sure you thoroughly check over your home for any damp and mould. This can be a health hazard and can even be quite serious at times, so it’s something that you are going to want to make sure you are thinking about if you are keen on keeping your home in check. If you do have damp, consider getting a dehumidifier and perhaps improving the ventilation as well. If you can do that, you’re going to have less damp and less mould, and a much more liveable and enjoyable home.
