Leeds Castle Segway
I don’t want to give away the ending to this blog post, but I can’t wait until the end to tell you how awesome Leeds Castle Segway is. It was so much fun!
So my husband was given a voucher for two people to go Segwaying as a Christmas present. We booked it for the summer, knowing that it would be a much better experience in the warmer period.
Booking it was interesting. I couldn’t book at first as the website wasn’t working properly, so I emailed them giving them the voucher details and requesting the date we wanted. I did get a rather short email telling me that it must be me that was causing the website not to work and I could only book it online. Charming! Luckily the folks we dealt with on the day were lovely – so all is forgiven (almost).
On arrival, we realised we had booked on to a session which everyone else was part of a hen do. I thought it would be a bit awkward, but the team at Leeds Castle Segway were really good at looking after both the hen do and us. Making sure we all had photos in our respective groups.
After a briefing and an initial training session, we were let loose around Leeds Castle. The countryside is beautiful and when you get up higher you can look down at the castle and the moat. It was truly glorious.
The Segways were very easy to drive – much easier than I thought it would be. I really enjoyed getting them up to speed when we were racing through the countryside, away from the people walking around the castle.
We did the Adventure Tour which was for 60 minutes. This costs £37 per person. There are also other options and often there are discounts available. There’s a 30-minute tour called the Scenic Tour, which costs £23 and a 90-minute option called the Twilight Tour which costs £59 and is described as the ultimate adventure. I’d quite like to go back and do the Twilight Tour as it would be good to see the castle and grounds when it isn’t open to the public.
Have you been on a Segway, did you enjoy it? Would you go again?
