Luxury Interiors on a Budget

This is a collaborative post

I love seeing what other people do to their interiors when they redecorate. There’s so much opportunity to add your personality stamp when you are revamping a room or an area of your home, but perhaps you don’t know where to start as your budget isn’t huge. There’s some great advice around so you can decorate your home to look like a millionaire but I’ve put together some top tips to help your stretch that budget so that you can have luxury interiors on a budget.

Upcycle Second-Hand Items

This is a great place to start if you are a bit short on your renovation budget. You can buy really good quality pieces of furniture that have been pre-loved and then upcycle them. Perhaps they need a lick of paint or re-upholstering? If you do your research and work out how to treat that piece of furniture, you’ll soon have the luxury look, whilst sticking to your budget.

Use a Feature Wall

Wallpaper is expensive, especially if you have a large, difficult area to cover. Sometimes it’s better to pay a professional to do the job for you, but that can be very costly in the long run. Why not make life simpler and cheaper for yourself by only focusing your wallpapering efforts on a feature wall. One wall will be much quicker to paper and also a lot easier, especially if you choose a wall that doesn’t have detailing like a door or window frame to work around. You can easily paint the rest of the room and then you’ll have a luxurious look and feel, but for a fraction of the cost.

Focus on Key Rooms

A great way to successfully upgrade your home’s interior design on a budget is by focusing on specific rooms in the home one-by-one, rather than overextending and trying to do everything at once. This will make it easier to focus the funds you have available and finish a space to a degree you’re happy with before moving on.

Focus on the important rooms such as your main living room or bedroom area first. For smaller, key spaces, flooring upgrades will be less expensive, allowing you to go with higher quality for additional comfort. For a luxurious carpet finish, for instance, UK supplier Carpet Warehouse recommend a saxony style for bedrooms or living room areas.

Splash Out on the Features That Show

It’s worth picking and choosing what you spend your money on when you are redecorating. Sometimes you can spend a lot of your focus on areas that don’t matter and that often get overlooked and then other times, you can forget about the features that are most noticed. For example when you come into a room, what do you notice first? Curtains which are always tucked away behind furniture or the wall space opposite the door that you could easily jazz up with a beautiful piece of homemade artwork, a couple of cheap but stylish mirrors or even some beautufl framed photos?

Have you got some furniture that has seen better days? A lick or paint and some new knobs on it, could turn it from a miss to a hit in just a few hours.

These ideas were inspired by a piece that Lottoland asked me to share my thoughts on. Lottoland is a site where you can bet on the outcome of lots of different worldwide lotteries. You play in the same way as if you were entering the lottery, but you enter via Lottoland and they pay out the equivalent winnings. Exciting eh! I don’t know about you, but I’d love to have a bit of a windfall on one of the lotteries. I’m already dreaming of what I’d spend my money on… How about you?
