Making Our Living Room Cosy and Bright

Autumn is a great time to give your house a deep clean, a good declutter and to treat yourself to some new home furnishings. It truly is the best time to make some changes in your home that will make you swoon when the winter months come up, such as some wood stoves and fleece blankets for example. But in general, Autumn and winter are the perfect times to be right at home and what better way than to change things up? You start to spend more time at home so it’s important to make your home feel warm and snuggly.

I’ve always loved the idea of having a cosy living room that’s nice and bright. While I could look into aluminium bifold doors to create as much light as possible, TJ Hughes offered us the opportunity to review an item from their collection, so we jumped at the chance – I’ve been eyeing up the perfect lamp in their shop window for some time now.

Our floor-standing LED lamp arrived via a courier and it was extremely easy to unpack and get into position. It was nice and light with a great sturdy base and a lovely long cable for plugging it in. It drives me mad when you buy something like a lamp and there’s a piddly little cable on it. This one was great and it’s even got a push button on the cable for switching it off and on. Ideal!

It felt a bit like Christmas plugging in our new lamp. More so because the lamp is tall, at almost 1.5m and it has gorgeous white lights twisted through the spiral design. One we were in place and plugged in, it was time for the big switch on.

Wow! The lights on the lamp are stunning. It’s like a beautiful sparkly, Christmas forest. It’s nice and bright, so you could sit and read without the main lights on, but not too bright that you feel like it floods the whole room, much like a ceiling light would. Visually it’s stunning. We’ve had a number of visitors since we put the lamp in the living room and everyone has commented on the new lamp and how pretty it is.

We went for the white light lamp, but there is a colour changing lamp, which I am sure Austin would love. Our living room is white, cream and brown, so a colour changing one wouldn’t really go with our scheme.

The floor lamp is an absolute bargain at just £84.99 from TJ Hughes. If you haven’t been and had a look at TJ Hughes, you really should. They have a great range of furniture, homewares, kitchenware, beauty products, toys and more. They may have a shop in your local high street – we do in the Chequers Centre, Maidstone. But you can also order online.

Disclosure: This is a collaborative post with TJ Hughes. They sent me the Floor Lamp to review. But as always, my opinions are my own.
