Making Pasta with Sous Chef
The team over at Sous Chef contacted me and asked if I would like to review one of their cooking kits. You know me, I love cooking and I love food so I immediately said yes. They very kindly sent me their Fresh Pasta Cooking Set.
I’ve made fresh pasta before, but not for a while, especially now we have our little one and dinners can be somewhat quick affairs after we’ve got him down to bed. But I thought this would be a great opportunity to try my hand at making pasta again and also to try out some new recipes. So last Saturday night, we had a special at-home date night where we made our lovely pasta dish and sat down after our boy had gone to bed. It made it feel like a real special occasion.
In actual fact, the dish I picked was incredibly easy to make and only took 10 mins or so once my fresh pasta was ready to go. The pasta didn’t take too long, it’s just about planning ahead so you have time to chill it before you roll it out and cut it.

I chose Pappardelle Al Granchio Velate Al Pomodoro which is Pappardelle with Creamy Crab and Tomato Sauce. But I did it with tagliatelli as that’s the roller I had as part of my kit.

We really enjoyed our fresh pasta dish and it’s definitely inspired me to make more dishes like this, especially at the weekend when we have a bit more time and my husband isn’t rushing in from work and we’re rushing around to get Austin to sleep.
If you are looking for a Christmas gift for a foodie, I would check out the Pasta Making ideas on the Sous Chef website, but I would also urge you to have a look at the other kits they have too – there’s quite a vast range.

I would say my Fresh Pasta Cooking Set is for the passionate cook – some of the recipes look quite complicated and you’d need some special ingredients for them. So I wouldn’t get this for someone who rarely ventures off a spag bol when they cook, but if you know someone who likes to spend a bit of time in the kitchen learning new techniques and new recipes, this is a great set. The Fresh Pasta Cooking Set costs £32.50 from Sous Chef, but there are lots of other lovely things on their website for your foodie friends and family.
