Modernising Your Office Space
This is a collaborative post
Do you manage an office that is feeling a bit out of date? Perhaps you run a business which needs a bit of an office revamp? If so, read on as I’ve put together some great tips on how you can go about modernising your office space to really bring it to life for you and your employees.
Environment
If you start by thinking about the environment, that will set you on a good route. When I say environment, I mean in more than one way. Think about the environment you want to create and then think about being environmentally friendly when you are updating your office space. Make sure there are plenty of eco-friendly materials used in your revamp. Don’t just think about the big things like desks, chairs and shelves, but also the smaller things like rubbish bins and stationery. Introducing plants and green space into your environment is good for the planet as well as your employees. Also, working with reliable office cleaning providers can also help maintain a healthier and more sustainable workspace over time.
Desking
Lots of modern offices have multiple ways of working. Some offices employ a hot desk system, where the employee either chooses a desk to work from on arrival or books one out in advance. This allows them to keep their desks clutter-free and encourages staff members to mingle more. It’s important to have co-working spaces that engage and invigorate the team. You could have less formal break-out areas broken up by movable walls which are used for smaller meetings and chats and then some spaces which are more private for meetings which need to be more sensitive. Some offices even have meeting rooms which are standing only spaces.

Flooring
A good way to modernise an office is to update the flooring. Get rid of the old tiled carpet and replace it with something more up-to-date. A resin floor is a great idea for a workplace. Not only is it more durable, easier to maintain and hygienic, but it also contributes to a safer working environment for your employees. There are different types of resin flooring so it would be worth doing your research before committing to new flooring for your workplace.
Employee Perks
Modern offices are offering a home-from-home for employees. Whether that’s state-of-the-art coffee machines and drinks fridges. Some offices are going even further and offering catering options for up to three meals a day. There are sleep pods and chill-out areas with recreational activities like darts or pool. Whatever you think will help to increase motivation and employee happiness, you should consider adding this to your office space. Old-fashioned office spaces can be modernised in several ways. You can start by simply removing partition walls and cubicle desks and then take it from there. Your employees will thank you for it.
