Scent is really important to me. A beautiful fragrance can really help set a scene, improve a mood or simply just enhance an experience. So when Nikura offered to send us some of their essential oils to try out, I jumped at the chance. We were sent their Best Sellers Essential Oil Gift Set which contains five 10ml essential oils and to go along with this, a cold-pressed Argan oil which is a carrier oil for massaging.
Nikura Oils Review
This is a collaborative post which contains gifted items.
Nikura has some lovely company values as well. Their essential oils are 100% pure, ethically sourced, free from animal testing and are also vegan. Their oils are also blended by hand in the UK – so the quality really does speak for itself!

Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts that are known for their aromatics and health benefits. They can be used in a variety of ways –
Aromatherapy
Essential oils are often used in aromatherapy to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and uplift mood. They can be diffused in the air using an electronic or reed diffuser. Using a diffuser can make your whole house smell amazing and like a luxury spa or hotel.
Candle Making
You can use your favourite essential oils when making homemade candles using wax. Candle-making is actually incredibly easy once you’ve got the know-how. My friend and I went on a candle-making course a couple of years back and it was much easier than I thought it would be. It’s a lovely way to generate amazing fragrances in your home or even to create thoughtful gifts. There are lots of helpful blog posts on the Nikura website about ways to make different scented candles.

Massage
Essential oils can be diluted with carrier oils, like the Argan oil we were sent and this can be used for massage. Massages are amazing and can help relax muscles, ease tension, and provide a soothing sensation. It’s also a lovely thing to do as a couple as it’s a really close, bonding experience for both parties. If you’re curious about how different massage styles work and what they’re actually best for, Knead Massage has a clear, practical guide to the differences between sports and deep tissue massage that explains which is better suited for different situations.

Skincare
Some essential oils, such as lavender, tea tree, and chamomile, are known for their skincare properties. They can be added to skincare products, such as lotions, creams, and facial oils, to potentially improve the appearance and health of the skin.
Cleaning
Certain essential oils, such as lemon, eucalyptus, and tea tree, have antibacterial and antifungal properties and can be used as natural cleaning agents. They can be added to your homemade cleaning solutions to freshen the air, sanitize surfaces, and add a pleasant scent all around the home.
Pest Control
As we grow a lot of different varieties of fruit and veg in our garden, we sometimes have issues with insects over the summer. Essential oils diluted in a sprayer can be a natural way to keep insects at bay without using hard pesticides or chemicals. For example, did you know that wasps don’t like the smell of peppermint oil? We spray it around the base of our garden dining table and it keeps them from bothering us too much at mealtimes over late summer.
Soap Making
In the same way, you can add essential oils to skincare products and candles to scent them, you can also use them in soap making. Make sure you research a legitimate set of instructions and follow them carefully.
So we have tried our Nikura oils out in several ways and I’m thrilled with them. The scents on the oils are very high quality. They smell luxurious and natural – not like some of the oils you can buy. The geranium essential oil was heavenly to use with the carrier oil for massages – I could still smell it in the room the next day. The tea tree and lemon oils have been used diluted to clean around the home – better than using lots of harsh chemicals, especially as we have a baby in the house.
I can’t wait to try out some of the scents for a bit of candle-making and also in a reed diffuser. I’m absolutely thrilled with my gift set and carrier oil. If you are looking for high-quality, beautiful scented essential oils, you should head over to Nikura now and take a look at their range. It’s impressive and very reasonably priced. I think you’ll be surprised by how many ways you can use essential oils.
