Easy Fixes For Your Common PC Problems
This is a collaborative post
Computers play an essential role in everyone’s daily lives. This would mean that it is essential to ensure that your computer is in great shape to help improve productivity and efficiency. However, just like all devices, your computer can face a few problems that can make your experience with them quite stressful. Fortunately, there are easy ways you can fix these problems. So before calling for professional assistance, run these simple fixes to solve your common PC problems yourself.
Run a virus scan
Some issues your PC may face could be due to a virus. Therefore, when you encounter slowness or some form of inefficiency, you should consider running a virus scan. Although most computers have scheduled virus scans, these may not be comprehensive. A deep virus scan of your computer would ensure that your device has been scanned for a virus. Be sure to install a reliable antivirus scanner as this would go a long way to keeping your computer safe and healthy.

Declutter and remove bloatware
You might think old, unused programs sitting in your hard drive aren’t harmless. However, the more applications on your hard drive, the harder your operating system needs to work. To ensure its efficiency, your computer may break up files and spread them out to save them.
Unfortunately, this fragmentation can limit the amount of free storage you have available. This may cause your computer to run slower than it usually does, experience frequent crashes, and exhibit other inconvenient buggy behaviour. The best solution is to declutter your computer by uninstalling applications you no longer use.
Reinstall your operating system
An extreme approach for removing bloatware and decluttering is by reinstalling macOS or Windows. OS reinstallation eliminates troublesome programs, viruses, and malware that may be hidden and negatively affect your computer’s performance. Reinstalling your operating system can reset your computer’s internet connection settings and give your PC a fresh start. Apple and Windows operating systems have made this process even pretty straightforward.
Go to the Update & Security settings and choose “Recovery” to reset your PC on your Windows. For your MacBook, you can either turn on your Mac, hold cmd+R to launch utilities or hold the power button until the startup options appear. Yet before proceeding, it is essential to note the MacOS Monterey installer size and the required storage to run smoothly.
Disable auto-start programs
It is never a good feeling when it takes forever to open an app. Unfortunately, it is a common problem many have to deal with every day. It is usual for your PC to start running slowly after using it for an extended period. Two years’ older computers are more likely to experience this problem. However, this is not a death sentence. When you have your system full of programs, one or two may be more resource-hungry than others. You can identify these programs by checking your CPU, Memory and Disk and closing them. Programs that auto-start when you turn on your computer can also contribute significantly to slowing it down. You might want to disable such programs.
