Petersfield Heath
When we were on our family holiday in Hampshire, one of the days was really beautiful and sunny – perfect for a lovely family stroll, so we headed to a nearby location that I had researched, Petersfield Heath. Petersfield Heath is a circular walk, suitable for all. Its terrain is easy enough to push a pram or a wheelchair around and the heath welcomes dogs as well.
The heath its self is actually set on a 69-acre site, so there’s plenty to see, aside from the route laid out. The ‘pond’ is 22 acres in size and in the summer you can hire boats to explore. If you are into fishing, you can also head there for a day of fishing, but you must get a day license on-site.
If you are heading with the little ones, there’s a great play area on-site including a sandpit. The play area is large and well equipped and so should provide quite a good amount of amusement for the kids.
There is an onsite café selling sandwiches, cakes and duck food, but it was really quite pricey, so you’d be better off taking a picnic and utilising one of the benches that are dotted around the heath. Be aware there are only a few that are in the shade of trees, most were quite exposed, which wasn’t ideal when we had two little babies with us that needed feeding – thank goodness for pram parasols!
All in all, Petersfield Heath is a great place for a nice scenic walk. There is a large car park, but when we arrived it was full. I believe there was an event on that day, but we just parked in a nearby road and walked back towards the Heath.
