Afternoon Tea at The Ferry House Inn
As you may have guessed, I love afternoon tea. It’s a wonderful time to get together with family or friends and enjoy a good chat and a catch up over lovely food and lots of lovely tea. It’s something that I haven’t done for a while, I should imagine it’s something that many of us haven’t done for a while. But as we are emerging from lockdown, you might want to consider checking out the afternoon tea at The Ferry House Inn in Harty, Kent.
Firstly, The Ferry House Inn is quite remote, so you can feel relaxed in your surroundings knowing there aren’t crowds of people around. They’ve revamped in the inside of the dining area and there is lots of space between the tables – way more than two metres. My friends and I felt very comfortable dining there.
There’s also lots of beautiful outdoor space, so if you would like to dine outside, there are plenty of options. It’s also very picturesque, overlooking the water. So if you are thinking of going for afternoon tea at the Ferry House Inn, maybe you’d consider going on a sunny day and enjoying the views?
Anyway, enough about the c-word. What about the afternoon tea at The Ferry House Inn? It was delightful!
The finger sandwiches were soft and fluffy, with the bread being made in-house and the fillings, like the beef and eggs, sourced from the local family farms. Fillings included roast beef and horseradish, egg mayonnaise and smoked salmon with cream cheese.
The scones were huge and so fresh – I love a scone. Our scones came served with cream and homemade rhubarb jam. The rhubarb was grown on-site in the kitchen garden and made into jam for the restaurant. Yummy!
We had a plethora of cakes to choose from. A homemade chocolate brownie with brittle. This was so rich and delicious, I devoured it! A baked blackberry cheesecake, again the blackberries came from the kitchen garden. A date and hazelnut sponge, some very special Ferry House Oreos cookies and finally a layer cake of genoise sponge, shortbread with the kitchen garden strawberries. There were also strawberries and cherries on the cake stand – these were from the garden too. It was so indulgent and truly delicious.
I loved every minute of being there. I feel comfortable and relaxed. It was wonderful to catch up with friends that I hadn’t seen for some time. It was especially nice to do it over such a lovely afternoon tea in a wonderful location. I would highly recommend it.
Afternoon tea at the Ferry House Inn costs £20 per person and includes unlimited tea and coffee. Currently, you can take afternoon tea on Fridays and Saturdays and it must be pre-booked. The Ferry House Inn is also taking part in the ‘Eat Out To Help Out’ scheme on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in August, so it would be well worth booking a table.
