Nuby Rapid Cool Review

Autumn is combi fed, so she has a mixture of breastmilk, formula and expressed breastmilk. She’s not fussy about what it is she has and how it is delivered, but if it’s not instant, we know about it! So when we were making bottles of formula, we were using the method of boiling the kettle, making the feed and then popping the bottle in a jug of cold water to cool. Most of the time that was fine as we could pre-empt when she would need feeding, but more recently she’s been getting very impatient. I’m guessing she’s having a growth spurt… And the 15 minutes it takes us to cool her milk in a jug is no longer acceptable. It will probably take even longer when she has bigger milk feeds!

The instructions say to measure out your milk powder into one of the dispensers, boil fresh water, add the water to the cooling flask, add the powder, close the flask and then mix it together. Within a couple of minutes, the magic flask will have cooled the milk to drinking temperature. It has a handy indicator which goes green when the milk is at the right temperature.
We do ours slightly differently. We boil our water and make the feed in a bottle. I find the gauge inside the flask very hard to read in our kitchen lights. I also want to mix the formula in the hot water prior to it starting to cool. So once the formula is mixed, I pop it into the Rapid Cool and then it does the work.
Nuby Rapid Cool How Does It Work
How does nuby rapid cool work? Well, there’s some clever science behind the Nuby Rapid Cool, but the flask is essentially absorbing the heat of the milk, allowing it to cool to temperature. Once you get the green logo on the top, you need to remove the milk otherwise it will continue to cool. So there you go. now you have the answer to how does the nuby rapid cool work – it’s easy as red and green.
How Long Does Rapid Cool Stay Sterile?
Nuby’s Rapid Cool is so clever. My husband and I are really impressed with its effectiveness. It’s so easy to clean, just a flask, the lid and a rubber seal. One thing we had to get our heads around was how to sterilise it. We use a cold water steriliser. You can’t keep the lid submerged for long periods, so we simply wash it up straight after use, pop it in the steriliser and then take it out after the 15-minute sterilisation period. We seal the flask then and there so it will still be sterile for the next feed.
How To Clean Nuby Rapid Cool
Exactly as you would with a baby’s bottle. Take it apart, then wash it in clean, hot, soapy water using a bottle brush. Sterlise it and ressamble for the next time you need to use it.
Can You Use Nuby Rapid Cool For Breast Milk?
Your Nuby Rapid Cool will essentially cool any liquid, so in theory, yes you can use your Rapid Cool for breast milk, but I would suggest that if you are gently reheating your breast milk you shouldn’t need to cool it down again.

Nuby Rapid Cool Reset Time
There are a couple of things you have to be aware of, so I’ve popped these in my Nuby Rapid Cool review. There is a reset period of at least 3 hours after you use it. Hence the kit, you get two Rapid Cools, so you can use one whilst the other one is resetting. You also need to make sure you follow the instructions carefully. I read that people were having issues with it showing green when the milk was still hot. You must hold the flask upside down for at least 10 seconds before pressing the display button, otherwise, you could get an incorrect reading. Also, it does seem obvious, but always check the milk before giving it to your baby.
Rapid Cool Flask – How Long Does Nuby Flask Stay Hot
As part of the kit, you also get a hot water flask, so you can take hot water and your cooler flasks out with you. As long as you prime the flask – as in you fill it full with boiling water to warm the flask and then refill it with the water you are going to take with you, the flask will keep the water hot enough for hours. You can check the water is hot enough to still sterilise your formula by attaching the digital lid from the cooling flask. If the logo on the lid goes red then the water is still hot enough. Amber or green means it is too cold to be safe. It’s genius! So what’s my overall verdict in this Rapid Cool review? I give it a big thumbs up. At first, I thought it sounded a little complicated with the red, amber and green on the two different flasks, but as soon as we started using it, I realised how simple it was and how much of a difference it has made to getting formula feeds to the right temperature quickly. My husband loves that there are no filters and complicated cleaning routines as he always gets that job!
