Travel Skin Care Tips: How To Maintain Your Skin On The Go

This is a collaborative post

It’s easy to maintain your skin while at home, especially when you have a storage box filled with all sorts of skincare products at your disposal.

But what happens when you decide to travel, probably to see a family member or on holiday? Do you fit all your skincare products in your luggage? No—you don’t have to. Below, we have highlighted a few tips on maintaining your skin even on the go.

Carry Facial Wipes

Don’t have a facial cleanser? Or don’t you feel like using the cleanser in the hotel? You can go for pre-moistened facial wipes or makeup remover towelettes instead. Store them in a ziplock bag. You can use them on the aeroplane, in the bus or car, while relaxing on the beach, or even in your hotel room. Ensure you carry good-quality facial wipes.

Carry A Facial Mist Spray

In addition to facial wipes or towelettes, another essential must-have when travelling is facial mist spray. This item can come in handy when you are on a weekend trip or an extended vacation. It’s hydrating and will help freshen up your skin during your trip.

When applied to your face, it helps moisturize your skin, preventing dryness and protecting it from the sun. Facial mist spray is a must-have for everyone, especially those with dry and combination skin. Or people who are travelling to a cold area.

Take Your Favourite Facial Cleanser

Serums and under-eye creams are great. However, facial cleaners are more important when you want to maintain your skin on the go. Quality facial cleaners will help protect your skin from dirt, pollution, and impurities. If you ignore this item, you’ll have to deal with unclean skin.

Prepare For Acne Breakouts

Surprised? While this may sound counterintuitive, you must adhere to the tip because even if you stick to the advice here, there is a little chance that your skin will break out while away. So you must stay prepared.

Common causes of breakout while travelling are stress, different water PH, and hardness. Plus, the surface your head and face touch can cause your perfect skin to break out. For an acne breakout, we recommend contacting dermatology services for help. They have procedures that can help prevent an acne breakout, and treat acne scars, and the acne itself.

Don’t Forget Your Moisturizer.

Try not to forget your face moisturizer, as you’ll need it to maintain your skin’s health. A good face moisturizer helps hydrate your skin, thus reducing the chances of breakouts and skin problems caused by excessive dryness.

Travel Skin Care

Always remember to apply the moisturizer on your skin before you board your flight. The air inside planes is drying and can affect your skin.

Don’t Ignore SPF

While preparing for your journey, keep your SPF close, so you don’t forget it. Sunscreen is a staple for travellers. It helps protect your skin from detrimental UV rays. It also limits the appearance of sunspots and reduces the risk of skin cancer. Go for SPF 30 or anything higher for the best results.

Pack Some Sheet Masks

In addition to SPF, another item that should be in your luggage is sheet masks. These items are small, meaning they won’t take up extra space in your luggage. Plus, they are great for your skin. Sheet masks can be an ideal alternative for the serums and special creams you’ll miss en route to your destination.

Don’t Touch Your Face

Look at your hands. Did you know that they carry, on average, 3,200 different germs belonging to over 150 species, some of which can be harmful and cause infection? Now, imagine what happens when you touch your face often with those hands. Yes, some of the germs move from your hands to your face. The results? Clogged pores can result in an acne breakout.

Avoid touching your face while travelling and always wash your hands with antibacterial hand wash or sanitiser to rid them of accumulated germs.

Skip Makeup

Makeup is a great confidence booster. You can wear one for an interview, office, wedding, etc. However, we wouldn’t recommend wearing makeup when you are about to board your flight or check out some tourist spots.

While some people stick with tinted moisturizers while travelling, it’s better to adopt your daily cream and SPF to allow your skin to breathe, as changing weather conditions and atmosphere may cause your skin to break out.

Get A Good Eye Cream

Do you often struggle with eye puffiness? If yes, carry quality under-eye cream with you. Alternatively, you can wrap crushed ice in a washcloth (if you don’t have an ice pack) and apply it to your eyes. This should do the trick.

Implementing these skincare tips while travelling will help maintain your skin and ensure that it stays fresh till you return home. Ensure you only take products you need, so you don’t get overwhelmed en route to your destination.
