If you’d told me a few years ago that a small countertop appliance would completely transform the way people plan and prep meals, I’d have laughed and pointed to my overflowing cupboards. We’ve all been there. The portable grill, the waffle press, the smoothie maker. You name it, most people have bought one (and then left it in a cupboard for years). But the humble air fryer seems like it is here to stay. And, if you haven’t used it for meal prep yet, the best is yet to come.
This is a collaborative post.
Why Air Frying Is a Game-Changer for Meal Prep
For busy weeks, or when I want tasty food without faffing with pans, an air can totally change the way you prep and cook. It can be a good way to cook quickly and save money. Here’s why your air fryer is a game changer.
It’s fast. Really fast.
Air fryers heat up almost instantly and cook more quickly than a standard oven. When you are prepping a week’s worth of meals, saving even a couple of minutes per dish adds up.
Food comes out crispy, even when you are reheating.
You know those leftovers that go soggy in the microwave? Not anymore. The air fryer keeps crispiness and texture, which makes prepped meals feel fresh, not tired.
Less oil, more goodness
You can create that gorgeous golden finish with just a drizzle of oil, which generally means fewer calories and less saturated fat while keeping the taste you love.
Easy cleanup
One basket, one tray, usually non-stick. After a big weekend batch-cook, the last thing I want is a mountain of pans to wash!
It’s incredibly versatile.
Proteins, veggies, snacks, reheating, breakfast. You can use it for almost everything. It’s not just for chips anymore.
A 5-Day Air Fryer Meal Prep Plan
Below is a straightforward meal schedule built around air fryer-friendly recipes. You’ll find it so simple and quick. You can batch-cook (or prepare your raw ingredients in an air fryer dish and cook fresh each day) each weekend and your weekday meals will become a doddle.
Sunday preparation should take around 90 minutes.
Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, paprika, bbq seasoning, harissa spices or any herbs/spices of your choice.
Use broccoli, sweet potato and courgette and mix it with olive oil and a little freshly ground pepper.
Use your hands to mix turkey mince or chopped veggies to form meatballs. If you are doing vegetable meatballs, I’d suggest using something like soft lentils and egg to give your meatballs some texture and ‘stick’.
Then chop your peppers and onions for your fajitas.
I would next suggest you assemble your salmon fillets with lemon and herbs in storage containers.
If you cook a batch of quinoa or brown rice, this will be perfect for side dishes during the week.

During this time, you can also prep snack options, things like cucumber and peanut butter, carrots and hummus.
MONDAY

Lunch: Air fryer chicken breast with a roasted veg bowl
Dinner: Lettuce wraps with reheated chicken strips
TUESDAY
Lunch: Turkey or veggie meatballs. Serve with quinoa and roasted courgette
Dinner: Salmon and air fryer broccoli
WEDNESDAY
Lunch: Fajita bowls. Air fry your peppers, onions and sliced chicken
Dinner: Use the leftover salmon to make yummy salmon tacos. I like to add lettuce, diced cucumber and mango with a dollop of sweet chilli sauce.

THURSDAY
Lunch: Air fryer sweet potato wedges with meatballs
Dinner: Air-fried stuffed peppers with rice and cheese
FRIDAY
Lunch: Leftovers mixed bowl. This is my favourite clear-the-fridge meal, and it’s perfect for minimising food waste.
Dinner: Fakeaway – air fryer prawn stir-fry with veggies and your favourite stir-fry sauce.
If meal prep has ever felt a bit overwhelming, using the air fryer is like having a tiny sous chef who speeds things up and helps you make everything taste wonderful. It’s quick, healthy, and genuinely enjoyable to use.
