Baby Autumn is growing up quickly and is now 11 months old. She’s gaining more confidence and a wicked personality. She’s fitted into our family so well and even her big brother suggests regularly that we should keep her! This is the last update before she turns a year old. Of course we are planning a lovely first birthday party for her and we are excited for a summer with our gorgeous children.
Sleeping
Removing her dummy continues to be a great move which we haven’t once regretted. She sleeps on average between 11 and 13 hours at night. She still sleeps on her back with her arms up – just like a newborn. She’s really not a wriggly baby, which is handy as we don’t have to go hunting around the cot for her during the night.
She has become slightly easier when it comes to naps. Sometimes she’ll have a longer nap, but more often than not, it’s just two 45-minute naps, one in the morning at around 9:30am and then one in the afternoon around 2pm. She still wakes from her naps crying, but she is normally quite easily soothed if you pick her up.
Feeding
Autumn is still quite a fussy eater, but she is often open to trying new foods. She seems to like dishes with a lot of flavour – curry, chilli, bolognaise and jambalaya are amongst her favourites. She loves yoghurt and fruit. She doesn’t like breakfast cereals and isn’t all that keen on sandwiches, so we have to work around her likes and dislikes. She’s still very much into her milk and still has four 8oz bottles a day. I will start to cut down her two day time milk feeds so that she is hungrier for meals.
Mental and Physical Development
She’s coming on really well with her talking and she waves and says ‘bye bye’ when people leave which is adorably cute. She also can say Nanny and Grandad as well as a few other words like socks, ball and dog. She’s very interested in numbers and if you say one to her, she will answer with the number two. She also on occasion says three, but not very often.
She’s really good with her hands and has been playing with shape sorting toys. She can put the round shapes into the round hole on her toys which she claps herself afterwards.
Movement-wise, she’s not crawling yet. She’s quite happy to sit and play and she very slowly shuffles her way around the room. We do give her plenty of tummy time as she actually doesn’t mind being on her tummy, but she seems to have no idea how to use her knees to move. She looks more like she’s swimming than trying to crawl.
Teeth-wise she has 8 that have fully cut through and 2 cutting through as I write this. She has been a bit grumpy with some of them, but not too bad. It’s quite easy to see when she is teething as she does get quite dribbly.
Clothes wise, she is mainly in her 9 – 12 month dresses and 12 – 18 months for trousers and sleepsuits. At her 10 to 12 month check, which was a week after she turned 11 months she was weighing in at 18lb 15oz and she is 74 cm tall.
