Buying From An Online Fishmonger

Ad: This is a collaborative post

We eat a lot of fish in our household. It’s a really versatile food and something that everyone enjoys, including Austin who can be a bit funny about meat. I assume it’s a texture thing as he will pretty much finish anything that has fish in it, every single time. But the variety at the supermarkets just isn’t very good and so if you eat a lot of fish you could really do with some more choice from an online fishmonger.

An online fishmonger, like Seafresh, is a great solution. You can go online, browse all the wonderful fish and seafood options on offer and then have it delivered directly to your door. No queuing and no hassle.

Online Fishmonger

Frozen fish is often thought of as being a lesser quality product than fresh fish, which is often not the case. Frozen fish is frozen very quickly after it is caught. Which, once defrosted and cooked, is much fresher than some fresh fish, which could be by this point, a few days old.

When shopping with an online fishmonger, your order will arrive packaged in dry ice to keep it at optimal temperature, ready to pop straight in your freezer.

If you are looking to liven up your mealtimes with some fish inspiration, you could try one of our favourite meals.

Fish Pie

Fish pie made with homemade white sauce and topped with sweet potato mash. This is one of Austin’s favourites. We usually use a combination of white fish and salmon. Whip up a delicious homemade white sauce and then top it off with oven-baked sweet potato. We serve ours with green beans, broccoli or sweetcorn. It’s truly delicious and tastes even better with high-quality fish.

Grilled Fish, Potato Wedges and Salad

This is one of my husband’s favourites. We ate a similar meal on holiday in Portugal and it was so delicious as the fish was fresh as could be. Homemade potato wedges, a side salad and a glass of something chilled match perfectly with this delightful fish. You can have a look at my full recipe here. You could use bream, sea bass or any fish that you like the look of. When we make it for Austin, we swap his side salad for other vegetables, as he’s really not a fan of salad yet.

Thai Green Prawn Curry

This is a really good meal for using up veg. We generally make ours with onions, peppers, green beans and prawns, but you could add anything – broccoli, carrots, mangetout, baby corn. Whatever you have in the fridge. We use a green curry paste, juicy prawns and some coconut milk to make a delicious Thai Green Curry. Serve with either noodles or rice.

So I hope these suggestions help liven up your mealtimes this week. Let me know if you try any of the suggestions above. Don’t forget to try some new fish and seafood from your online fishmonger.
