How To Style Your Home For Spring

Spring is finally here and you may feel like you want to give your home a well-needed lift and restyle. Giving your home a spring refresh doesn’t cost the earth, you just need to know where to spend and where to make the most of what you’ve already got. I’ve put together some top tips on how to style your home for spring.

Refresh

The first place you can start is by refreshing old and tired fabrics. If you have curtains that have seen better days, why not invest in a new set. Perhaps you can recover those chairs which are looking a bit tired? What about making some new cushion covers? You can do all of these on a shoe-string by buying your own linen fabric and then doing the work yourself. Not only is it better for the environment to upcycle and re-use, you’ll also have a unique look that can’t be easily purchased in a furniture or curtain shop.

Invite Colour In

Spring is all about bright colours. So why not carry that across in your home-styling. Invest in that feature wallpaper you’ve always been eyeing up, brighten up your living room with a new piece of artwork or a spring-coloured throw. Give your dining room a revamp with some new crockery that carries bright, inviting Spring colours.

Spring Clean

Nothing says Spring more than Spring clean. Give your whole house the once over. Go room by room, decluttering and cleaning. Start from the top of the room and work down. Once you’ve done the whole house, it will look a million times better. You won’t have had to spend a penny. Well, maybe a few if you’ve had to buy new polish and cloths. Let The Light Shine

On your mission to spring clean, don’t forget the windows. Clean windows let the Spring sun shine in and will give your whole house a lift. If you have blinds or curtains in your house, make sure you open them fully every day. If you have nets or voiles, why not utilise tie backs to let the sun stream in your newly cleaned windows.

Utilise The Garden

The garden is often the most under-utilised area in a home. But it can be such a wonderful space. Invest in a dining table and chairs for the garden, either new or second hand. Get some snuggly blankets, some candles and you can create a space that can be used day or night on the warm spring days and evenings.

Lick of Paint

If you’ve got a room or two that could do with a fresh coat of paint, Spring is a great time to do this. Paint will dry quicker when it is warmer and you won’t mind having the doors and windows open for ventilation. Even if you don’t want to paint the whole room, a feature wall or just repainting door frames and skirting boards can really help refresh your home for spring.

Spring Touches

Once you’ve decluttered, tidied, reupholstered and added a splash of colour, you might want to look at the finishing touches. Perhaps that’s adding some spring flowers to your kitchen table or maybe it’s investing in a diffuser for the living room. Helping to invite those lovely scents of spring inside.
