There’s nothing better than a wintery walk through London looking at the Christmas shop windows. You can stop at one of the Christmas stalls that sell lovely, fragrant mulled wine, grab yourself a glass and then enjoy a winter’s walk through the hustle and bustle of London’s shops taking in the festive scenes as you go. Look out for interactive displays or those with a QR code. They may have an extra treat in store. This year’s permanent and pop up shop design art is sure to be spectacular after the last two Christmases we’ve had. Here are some of the best places to enjoy Christmas shop windows on your walk. Don’t forget there are often temporary shops and displays which just appear for a month or two – designed to delight Christmas shoppers and festive goers.
Fortnum and Mason
If you are popping into Fortnum and Mason to pick up some delightful treats or stocking fillers, why not stop by their window display to see what they have in store for shoppers this year?
Harvey Nichols
If you are heading to Knightsbridge this Christmas season, you should definitely stop by Harvey Nichols. Their Christmas display in 2021 was truly uplifting and I’m sure their plans for 2022 will be even bigger and better.
Annabel’s
Private members club Annabel’s fails to disappoint year after year. In 2021 they teamed up with Swarovski and turned into a giant gingerbread house. In 2020, it was themed around the Nutcracker. So it’s definitely worth swinging by the Berkeley Square venue to take a look this Christmas.
Selfridges
If last year’s Christmas window displays at Selfridges are anything to go by, you should hop down to the iconic department store and take a look at what is on show for this year’s festivities. 2021 celebrated the golden age of Hollywood, film musicals and theatre and it was spectacular.
Hamleys
Iconic London toy shop Hamleys continues to delight old and young visitors with its spectacular Christmas window displays. In 2021, the window was themed around Jurassic Park and Harry Potter and with a whole host of exciting toy launches to choose from, it’s well worth a look to see what they have themed it on this year.
Harrods
Harrods pulled out all the stops last year. They combined their Christmas window display with a QR code that allowed the user to apply festive filters and animations. They also use their windows to showcase the luxury brands on offer in the iconic store in a very appealing way. Also, I can highly recommend popping in for an afternoon tea whilst you are there.
Nine Elms
In 2021, Nine Elms had 24 art installations placed around as a trail for visitors. The Peace on Earth displays were quite majestic and definitely worth spending the time to see them. I can’t wait to see what’s afoot this year.
Liberty
Liberty, London always has something magic in mind for their shop windows each Christmas. Last year’s illusion showcased some of the amazing gifts available in store and was framed by letters going into a rather festive post box.
