4 Global Cities Your Kids Should Visit Before They Turn 18

Are you the type of parent who loves expanding your kids’ horizons? If so, you’ve probably thought about which cities they should visit before they hit the big one-eight.
But where exactly should you be taking them? Let’s take a look.
Geneva
Geneva isn’t the Swiss capital, but when you visit, you’ll wonder why. This spectacular city at the foot of Lac Leman is one of the richest and most beautiful in the world.
If you’re planning on visiting the city with your kids, we recommend taking them to the Manor shopping centre close to the middle of town. Here you can dine on a terrace overlooking the spectacular Alps in the distance. It’s quite something.
You can also check out a bunch of global institutions that are located in the city, including the WHO. And there are plenty of parks for young children, including some quite interesting ones where they can play with sand and flowing water.
Bangkok
Bangkok might not sound like the most kid-friendly city in the world, but it can be a great place to take older children. Thai people are incredibly friendly, and there’s plenty to do here all year round.
The city is perhaps most famous for its street food, prepared directly in front of you. The ingredients are always fresh and you never get a bad meal.
You should also check out the various parks around the city plus some of the iconic temples and landmarks. Buddha statues are all over the place, so if you travel long enough in one direction, you’ll eventually come across one.
New York
New York is another great place to take kids. It’s an example of the fantastic wealth generation that occurs when you liberate markets and let people just get on with business. And while the city isn’t quite the capitalist paradise it once was, you can still see the vestiges of the free market.
Many sixth form trips to New York visit the city’s many theatres and restaurants. Older kids are better able to appreciate the city’s unique charms and find their way around on the subway.
Of course, New York is also a city of history. Since the 2001 attacks, much of the Lower Manhattan area has been rebuilt. And now kids can visit the memorial and pay witness to an event that changed the course of western history.
Vienna
Living in regular cities, most children never get to experience what a truly beautiful urban landscape looks like. They think the areas they live in are just “normal.”
When they visit Vienna, though, they see what’s possible. They realise how postmodern architects have trashed most urban landscapes around the world, and what their hometown could look like if it hadn’t been vandalised.
Vienna is also a wonderful city for music. It has dozens of opera houses and concert halls, all playing host to some of the most celebrated contemporary classical artists. It is literally the definition of a “culture trip” and certainly somewhere you’ll want to check out.
