Dinner Time Stories
I love trying new experiences! We are lucky, living so close to London, there’s always a lot of new things to try out. It’s easy for us to just hop on a train and head to wherever we need to be, up in the big smoke.
Something I had seen online and was really interested in going to, was Dinner Time Stories. It’s a really novel concept. You are seated at a table, usually shared with other guests, and there is an animated chef projected on to your plate. He provides the entertainment for the evening.
The Storytime Dinner event we went to was hosted by the storyteller ‘Le Petit Chef’. His story took us on the route of Marco Polo. During the night we were served a six course tasting menu. The food and presentation were aligned with the theme of where we were on that part of the story.
Between each course, you were presented with a story book which had the menu in for the next course. You were encourage to write in the book and you could read what the previous diners has thought. It was such a good idea.
It was such a fun way to eat dinner. I became very engrossed in the story and absolutely loved the little chef. The food was of really high quality. I think the service could have been a bit more polished, the waiting staff seemed a little confused at times with what they were doing, but I assume that will come more easily with practice.
The only odd part of the night, was at the very end, the event was coming to its conclusion. I think the organisers missed a trick to make sure everyone left with an amazing experience. It all finished and the waiting team just milled around telling people it was over. There could have been a hundred different ways they could have made the event really sing at the end.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience. It was priced at £95 per person, but that included six course and a paired drink with each. Our Story Time Dinner was set in the very quirky TT Liquor in Shoreditch. The venue was perfect was an event like this. I’d love to go again and see Le Petit Chef’s next adventure and would highly recommend it.
