We’re in the middle of the Christmas party season. Chances are your office do might be happening in the next week or two. Maybe you’ve got a special night out with friends on the cards. Either way, I’ve put together my top tips to help you dress to impress at your upcoming Christmas party.
Pamper Yourself Beforehand
Plan some time to take a long, luxurious bubble bath. You can give your hair some TLC and perhaps even treat yourself to an all-over body scrub and a face mask before the big event. Make sure you leave enough time to blow dry your hair – the drowned rat look isn’t what you want on those selfies.
Check The Dress Code
This is all-important. You don’t want to turn up wearing fancy dress if it says black-tie and vice versa. Make sure that you know what others are wearing too, so you can plan your outfit accordingly.
Have Two Fabulous Outfits
If you’ve got two outfits you look and feel great in, you can choose which one you’d like to wear on the day. It also allows you to have a backup in case a zip goes or a helpful child puts jam fingers on you, as you leave.
Accessorise Right
So you’ve got the killer dress, now you need to accessorise right. Make sure you team your dress with some gorgeous sparkly jewellery, the perfect clutch bag and the shoes of your choice. I’d personally go for heels but tuck a tiny pair of pumps in my handbag.
Make Time
If you like to wear a bit of make-up, ensure that you make time to do a good job. You can tell when someone’s eyeliner is rushed and those pesky false lashes will only come unstuck if you don’t do them properly. If you don’t wear make-up, a slick of lip gloss and some moisturiser will do. Whatever your routine, factor in time to do it without getting flustered.
Smile
The best accessory you can take with you is your smile. This is the one thing that will impress everyone around you. Enjoy your party and your smile will come naturally. Then people will be drawn to you, as you will look like you are having a great time. If you smile at the boss, they may even buy you a Christmas tipple.
The most important thing is to wear something you feel fabulous in and to be open-minded about the party. Sometimes they are a bit cringy, but if you look and feel great, you’ll have a blast, no matter what the theme is.
