If you told me a few years ago that I’d be excited about laundry detergent, I probably would’ve laughed. But here we are, because finding an option that’s gentle on sensitive skin and cuts down on plastic has been a bit of a mission of mine. My washing machine runs every day. Most days, more than once. So I need products which will do the job every time. So when I was approached by The Green Company to try out their GreenSheets Eco Laundry Detergent, I thought it would be a great opportunity to see if they are up to the job. Here’s my full GreenSheets Eco Laundry Detergent Review.
GreenSheets Eco Laundry Detergent Review
What Are These Laundry Sheets?
These aren’t your traditional powder, liquid or pod-style detergents. Instead, they’re ultra-thin sheets that you just pop into the washing machine with your laundry. One sheet for one wash. I think these are simple and mess-free; there’s no measuring and no dropping. I also like that they are plastic-free, so there are no plastic bottles to recycle. They come in fully biodegradable packaging, too, which honestly makes me feel way better about the mountain of washing we get through each week.
What Appeals To Me
Between grass stains, muddy coats, food splatters and school uniforms with pen marks over them, washing is basically a permanent task in our house. I also have children with super-sensitive skin, so I have to be careful what I use. GreenSheets Eco Laundry Detergent promises something gentle, an eco-friendly alternative to big plastic bottles, plus the biggie, clean laundry.
How They Work
It’s actually very simple, you load your washing machine as normal, drop in one sheet (or two for extra big loads or if you live in a hard water area) and start your cycle. You can also use their Eco Fabric Conditioner GreenSheets to soften your clothes.

The sheet dissolves completely in the wash. There’s no sticky residue and no leftover film to deal with. It’s so simple.
Do They Work?
I’ve found they’ve cleaned our washing really well. I’ve washed everything from muddy school jumpers, delicate toddler dresses with food stains on them, towels and bedding, and everything has come out fresh and clean.
I like that the fragrance isn’t overpowering. This is ideal for the kids’ clothes as they don’t want to be wearing heavy scents all day.
I’ve found that the GreenSheets Eco Laundry Detergent do work well alongside sensitive skin. I’ve tried these over the last few weeks, and we’ve had no issues with sensitivities.

Washing Without Guilt
This is where they shine against a lot of other laundry products. There are no single-use plastic bottles. Even refill laundry products often come in plastic pouches, which are single-use (and might I add, a pain to decant). The outer box is small enough that it will fit through a letterbox. And not only are the washing sheets biodegradable, but the box is too. These are a fantastic eco-friendly swap, which is totally hassle-free.
Anything I’d Change?
Honestly? There’s not much to complain about. If you’re used to ultra-strong scents, you might think they seem a bit understated, but they still leave your washing smelling fantastic. It’s just much more subtle.
GreenSheets Eco Laundry Detergent Review – My Verdict
If you are looking to cut down on plastic whilst keeping the task of laundry simple, you should seriously consider GreenSheets Eco Laundry Detergent. I like the ways that these avoid harsh chemicals, so they look after sensitive skin and most importantly, they actually work. My washing is lovely and clean, soft and subtly-scented.
