Leeds Castle Christmas Market

This time of the year, Leeds Castle put on a number of events and attractions to celebrate the run-up to Christmas and amongst these is the Leeds Castle Christmas market.

I don’t know about you, but I love a Christmas market. The hustle and bustle of people milling about looking through the stalls. The cheery sellers in their little huts offering samples and an insight into their wares.

I nearly always come away with an armful of tasty-looking sauces, cheeses and meats from these places.

The Christmas attractions at Leeds Castle are quite magnificent. There’s not just the Christmas market, they also decorate the main castle throughout with beautifully adorned trees and other festive displays. It’s quite inspirational. I really enjoyed walking through the rooms that were open to the public and seeing how they had been spruced up for the season.

Even if you aren’t going to Leeds Castle for the Christmas festivities, the ground themselves are magnificent. We went on a beautifully crisp and clear winter’s day. We wrapped up in our woollies and went for a lovely walk around the grounds. As our tickets are annual tickets, we’ll be heading back on other weekends to have a walk around. It’s so beautiful and peaceful.

So back to the Leeds Castle Christmas market. There’s a great array of traders around the market. There are different stalls each weekend, so if you are looking for a specific trader, you are best to check in advance. In the centre, there are a plethora of fairground style rides, including a Ferris wheel and a helter-skelter. There’s also a bandstand where we listened to the Kent Police band. Very Christmassy! If you are there over lunchtime, there’s a good array of food sellers, we tucked into some pork baps brimming with red cabbage and apple sauce. Very messy but very tasty.

If you are going to go a Christmas market this year, I would highly recommend the Leeds Castle Christmas Market, as there’s a lot to do and see.
