I think there is something rather lovely about pumpkin picking in Kent. It marks the start of autumn for us: crisp mornings, muddy wellies, changing leaves and children trying to persuade you that the biggest pumpkin in the field will definitely be worth carrying it all the way back to the car.
Kent has some brilliant pumpkin patches, ranging from traditional pick-your-own fields to farms offering food, play areas, photo opportunities and Halloween activities. However, prices, booking arrangements and opening dates vary considerably, so it is worth planning before you set off.
I’ve brought together some of the best places to go pumpkin picking in Kent in 2026, including options near Maidstone, Medway, Dartford, West Malling, Goudhurst, Deal and Ashford.
Most pumpkin patches are outdoors, and their opening details can change because of the weather or the condition of the pumpkins and the patches. I would suggest checking the farm’s own website or social media page on the morning of your visit, particularly if you are travelling a long way. No one wants a wasted journey, especially with little people in the car!

Pumpkin Moon – Maidstone And Rainham
Pumpkin Moon is one of Kent’s best-known pumpkin-picking experiences. It has two Kent farms in 2026: one at Sandling near Maidstone and another on Lower Rainham Road.
More than 100 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds have been planted, so this is a particularly good choice if you want something more unusual than a traditional orange carving pumpkin. There are small decorative gourds, white pumpkins, enormous carvers and varieties that are much better suited to cooking. You will be spoilt for choice here.
The 2026 patches are open on 10–11 October, 17–18 October and 21–31 October. Opening hours are 10 am–3.30 pm, with the gates closing at 4 pm.
Timed tickets cost £2.75 per person on weekdays and £3.75 at weekends. Children under two and carers are admitted free. Family tickets for four people are also available, while pumpkins are purchased separately.
Both farms have parking, toilets, baby-changing facilities and food and drink stalls. Wheelbarrows are available to borrow, but I would still take a strong bag or line the car boot in case your pumpkins are that little bit muddy.
Best for: Families who want the biggest choice of pumpkin varieties.

PYO Pumpkins At Beluncle Farm – Hoo
PYO Pumpkins at Beluncle Farm has been running since 2010 and is a great pumpkin patch in Kent for families looking for a proper pumpkin-field experience.
All its pumpkins are home-grown, with carving pumpkins, edible squash and different colours and sizes available. Pumpkin pickers can borrow a wheelbarrow, explore the field and pay for their chosen pumpkins on the way out. Prices range from approximately £1 to £15 per pumpkin, depending on size and variety.
The confirmed 2026 opening dates are:
- Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October
- Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October
- Friday 23 October
- Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October
- Wednesday 28 to Saturday 31 October
Booking is essential, and tickets are sold per vehicle rather than per person. It’s worth being aware that pumpkins are not included in the admission price.
Pushchairs and wheelchairs are welcome, but this remains a working field without purpose-built paths. The ground can be sloping, uneven and muddy, so it may be difficult after heavy rain. Dogs are not permitted. Toilets, refreshments and parking are available.
Best for: A traditional field full of home-grown pumpkins.

Stanhill Farm – Dartford
Stanhill Farm is conveniently situated near Dartford and the A2, making it useful for families in North-West Kent or South-East London.
Its pumpkin patch returns in October 2026. This is another traditional outdoor experience where you can wander through the field, choose your pumpkins and snap a few wholesome, family-friendly autumnal photographs.
You’ll also find that the farm has a farm shop and the Berries & Beans Café, so you can pick up fresh produce or stop for something to eat during your visit.
The patch can become busy during October weekends, so I would suggest booking ahead rather than relying on being able to enter immediately on arrival. You can check their pumpkin-patch page before travelling for the latest ticket prices, opening hours and field conditions. The farm has confirmed that its 2026 pumpkin patch will open in October.
Best for: Families near Dartford, Gravesend and South-East London.

Lower Ladysden Farm – Goudhurst
Lower Ladysden Farm is set in the lovely countryside near Goudhurst and offers pick-your-own pumpkins throughout October.
It is a good option if you want to turn pumpkin picking into a relaxed autumn day out. As well as its seasonal PYO fields, the farm has an award-winning farm shop and café selling meals, cakes and drinks. It’s a pretty special autumnal trip.
The farm is beautiful in autumn, but, as you might expect, the fields can become muddy following wet weather. I suggest packing your wellies and checking the latest information before leaving home, as pumpkin availability is naturally affected by the weather and the number of visitors.
The exact 2026 pumpkin dates, ticket arrangements and special events should be checked directly with the farm when planning your visit.
Best for: Combining pumpkin picking with lunch or coffee at a farm café.

Little Fant Farm – Maidstone
Little Fant Farm is a smaller working farm on the outskirts of Maidstone. It has a much more relaxed atmosphere than some of Kent’s large ticketed pumpkin events.
The farm grows approximately 20,000 pumpkin and squash plants, with more than 30 different varieties in different colours, shapes and sizes. Entry to the pumpkin patch is free, and pumpkins are individually priced, generally from around £1 for the smallest varieties to £10 for large carvers.
Pre-booking for this pumpkin picking in Kent spot is not normally required. The farm also has animals to see, countryside trails and a tearoom serving farm-made food, cakes and drinks, making this a lovely option with younger children.
Opening days can change across the season, so check the farm’s website or social media before travelling. Parking arrangements may also differ during events.
Best for: A quieter pumpkin-picking trip with younger children.

Loddington Farm – Linton
Loddington Farm is a fifth-generation farm in Linton, just outside Maidstone. For 2026, it has joined forces with local flower grower Blooming Green to offer pick-your-own pumpkins and autumn flowers.
The event runs from 17–31 October 2026 and combines a pumpkin patch with colourful seasonal flowers, field games and selected food vendors. It’s a really nice option if you want autumnal family photographs as well as pumpkins.
Because this is an organised seasonal event with set sessions, advance booking is advisable. I would suggest checking what your ticket includes, as pumpkins and flowers may be charged for separately.
As with every working farm, sensible shoes are essential. A baby carrier may be easier than a lightweight pushchair if the ground is wet.
Best for: Autumn photographs, pumpkins and seasonal flowers.

Meopham PYO – Meopham
Meopham PYO at Broomfield Farm grows a range of seasonal produce, including pumpkins and squash.
The farm usually opens from 10 am–4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays until 31 October. Entry and parking are free; there is no need to book, and visitors pay for what they pick by weight.
This is one of the more flexible choices for pumpkin picking in Kent because you do not have to commit to a timed ticket. Friendly dogs are also welcome, provided they stay on a short lead, stay away from the crops, and owners clear up after them.
White Finch Bakery serves cakes and drinks until 3 pm. Pumpkin availability can change quickly, so look at the farm’s Facebook or Instagram updates before heading off in the car.
Best for: Free entry, spontaneous visits and families bringing a dog.

Felderland Farm – Near Deal And Sandwich
Felderland Farm is one of Kent’s largest pick-your-own farms and is conveniently located on the A258 between Deal and Sandwich.
As well as seasonal pumpkin picking in Kent, the farm has a children’s play area with slides, swings and ride-on tractors. Its takeaway coffee hut serves hot and cold drinks, snacks and toasties.
The facilities include toilets, baby changing, accessible toilets, accessible parking and a large hardstanding car park. There is also a grass overflow car park. Dogs are not allowed on this farm.
Felderland has advertised a 2026 pumpkin patch which opens on the 17th October. The tickets are for a specific entry time, but you can stay as long as you like. Pumpkins start at £2.
You could combine your visit with a walk along Deal seafront or another family day out in East Kent.
Best for: Families who value good facilities and a children’s play area.
Spadework Pumpkin Patch – Offham
Spadework is a Kent charity based near West Malling. It supports adults with learning disabilities and other needs through horticulture, practical work and community activities.
Its Pumpkin Garden returns during October, offering families the chance to choose a pumpkin while supporting the charity’s work. It is a particularly worthwhile alternative to some of the larger commercial events.
The site also has a garden centre, café and farm shop. Pumpkin picking runs between 5th and 31st October, and entry is free. There’s no need to book; you can just turn up on the day. You can also bring your dog. If you fancy something a bit different, you can do one of their PYO Pumpkins by Torchlight evenings.
Best for: An affordable local visit that supports a Kent charity.

Sevington Pumpkin Patch – Ashford
Sevington Pumpkin Patch is a traditional working pumpkin field near Ashford. Its 2026 season starts on the 10th October 2026.
Visitors can head into the field and choose from pumpkins of different sizes, with prices generally determined by the size of the pumpkin. Entry prices start at just over £3 and pumpkins start at just £1. Family activities include a Golden Pumpkin Hunt.
Unlike patches where the pumpkins have already been cut and arranged, Sevington has traditionally allowed visitors to cut their chosen pumpkins from the plant. Follow the farm’s instructions and only use any cutting equipment supplied or approved by the organisers.
Check the event listing before travelling for opening times, ticket arrangements, accepted payment methods and the latest field conditions.
Best for: Traditional pumpkin picking near Ashford.

Where To Buy Kent-Grown Pumpkins Without Visiting A PYO Field
If trudging through a muddy field does not appeal, there are still places where you can choose a locally grown pumpkin.
Castle Farm near Shoreham grows numerous pumpkins and squash, but these are hand-cut and displayed outside its farm shop. You can choose from carving, cooking and decorative varieties without navigating a pumpkin field.
Broadditch Farm has cancelled its PYO field for 2026 after exceptionally dry weather significantly reduced its crop. However, its home-grown pumpkins and squash will still be sold at the farm, and pumpkin-carving workshops will run from 26–29 October.
These are good alternatives for families with very young children or anyone who wants a locally grown pumpkin without the full outdoor picking experience.
Is Pumpkin Picking Suitable For Toddlers?
Pumpkin picking can be a lovely autumn activity with toddlers, but it helps to choose your venue carefully.
Look for farms with toilets, baby-changing facilities, food and a relatively short walk from the car park. An all-terrain pushchair may cope on dry grass, but many pumpkin fields become extremely muddy after rain. I would take a baby or toddler carrier if you have one – it will save you a lot of hassle.
I can tell you that little ones are also very good at choosing pumpkins that are far too heavy for anyone to carry, so borrowing a wheelbarrow is always worthwhile if there’s one available.
What To Wear For Pumpkin Picking
Even when the weather looks dry, pumpkin fields can be wet and muddy underfoot. I recommend wearing:
- Wellies or waterproof walking boots
- Old jeans or waterproof trousers
- Layers and a waterproof coat
- Gardening gloves for handling prickly pumpkin stalks
- A change of shoes for the journey home
It is also worth placing an old towel, reusable shopping bag or plastic crate in the boot for muddy pumpkins.
Do You Have To Book Pumpkin Picking In Kent?
Some Kent pumpkin patches require advance booking, while others offer free entry without a reservation.
Pumpkin Moon, PYO Pumpkins at Beluncle Farm and organised seasonal events such as Loddington Farm should be booked in advance. Meopham PYO and Little Fant Farm do not normally require booking, although you should always check for event-specific changes.
Popular weekend sessions and half-term dates can sell out, so book early if you need a particular date.
Are Pumpkins Included In The Entry Price?
At most pumpkin patches, your admission ticket only covers entry to the field or event. Pumpkins are then charged separately according to their size, weight or variety.
Always check before booking, particularly when comparing family ticket prices. A cheaper entry ticket is not necessarily a cheaper day out if pumpkins and activities are all charged separately.
When Does Pumpkin Picking Start In Kent?
Most Kent pumpkin patches open during October. Some begin on the first weekend of the month, while others wait until the middle of October when more of the crop is ready.
Several patches remain open until Halloween, but pumpkin availability may be more limited towards the end of the month. Visiting earlier usually gives you the best selection, while visiting closer to Halloween can offer more themed activities.
Can You Eat Pumpkins From A Pumpkin Patch?
Many varieties are edible, but not every carving pumpkin has been grown for flavour. I would suggest asking the farmer which varieties are best for roasting, soup or baking.
Smaller squash and varieties such as Crown Prince often have much better flavour than the enormous orange pumpkins commonly used for carving.

Making The Most Of Your Kent Pumpkin-Picking Trip
My biggest tip is to check the venue’s update on the morning you travel. Pumpkin picking is weather-dependent, fields occasionally have to close, and popular farms can sell out of particular sizes.
Allow plenty of time, dress for mud and do not promise the children they can have absolutely any pumpkin before you have seen the size of the biggest ones!
