You can also customize the pieces yourself with foam sheets to make things easy if you’re reupholstering. Nowadays, many work steps in the manufacture of upholstered furniture are carried out by machine. In addition, not only wooden frames are used as substructures but also frames made of plastic. Therefore, craftsmen don’t need any knowledge of woodwork. Mostly industrially produced upholstered furniture is produced in large numbers, which is reflected in lower prices. Therefore, you can appreciate the quality is slightly lower but this depends on the type of furniture you want and also what your budget may allow you to buy.
Upholstered Corner
Upholstered corners are predominantly fully upholstered sofas. These are constructed around a corner and therefore offer space for several people. There are sometimes very large differences in the design between the individual upholstered corner models. Upholstered corners are now also available in a box spring structure with combined spring cores. A fixed or loose foam pad is also added. There are also multifunctional upholstered corners that are not only suitable for sitting, but also for sleeping.
Upholstered Chairs
The frame can be upholstered or kept visible in this type of furniture. Different forms of so-called flat upholstery are used for the upholstery of chairs. In the case of upholstered chairs, only the seat or the seat and backrest can be provided with upholstery. Many office chairs also belong to the group of upholstered chairs, which provide added comfort at work.
Upholstered Bed
Upholstered beds usually come in the form of a bed with an upholstered headboard. This may be covered in something such as leather or fabrics. In addition, the body of the bed is covered with fabric or leather and is occasionally also lightly upholstered. Some upholstered beds also offer a foot part, which also has a cover and, depending on the model, padding. The box spring beds, which have become very popular, often belong to the category of upholstered beds due to their design. You can find these in some of the biggest stores, such as Ikea. In addition, some beds are “half” upholstered.
