Tips For Winding Down For A Blissful Night’s Sleep
This is a collaborative post
For those who struggle to fall asleep, it’s important to find ways of helping to wind down the body and more importantly, the mind. It’s easier said than done though, especially if it’s someone who takes hours to get to sleep every night.
However, incorporating a few good practices each night can be helpful to ease the body into a state of rest quickly and efficiently. Here are some tips on winding down for a blissful night’s sleep.
Take a Warm Bath
A warm bath is a great way of relaxing the body at the end of the day. It’s useful for many things, whether that’s to ease muscle strain and tension after workouts or to relax after a hard day in the office.
Pouring in some bubble bath soak and sipping on a favourite tipple with a good book can be just what the body needs to relax and find itself in a state of rest, ready for bed.
Have a Hot Drink
A hot drink is another great way of warming up the body and easing it into that restful state. Not a big fan of hot coffee or tea? Try hot milk instead or try something a little different like Horlicks. Horlicks is great for helping provide a slightly different-tasting hot beverage.
Hot drinks can be great to enjoy in bed while settling down for the night. Try to read a magazine, newspaper or book before bed too as staying on the phone can cause the brain to become wired, making it harder to fall asleep.
Incorporate a Nighttime Skincare Routine
Sometimes, incorporating certain tasks and creating a routine towards the end of the evening, can trigger the body to get ready for sleep. For example, putting on pyjamas or loungewear. Another way to do this is by incorporating a nighttime skincare routine.
Not only can the skin benefit from a rejuvenating night cream, but it also helps trigger the brain to recognise that it’s now time to get ready for bedtime.
Listen to Sleep Sounds
Sleep sounds or a sleep podcast can be a great way to help fall asleep. There are plenty of sleep sounds and podcasts readily available to listen to when in bed and struggling to fall asleep.

Headspace is a great one to listen to, not just for sleeping but for all aspects of helping the mind and body in various scenarios.
Go to Bed at a Reasonable Time Each Night
Going to bed at a reasonable time is a good way to help wind down for the night. This is something that should attempt to be done every night to get the body programmed and ready for sleep.
Pick a bedtime that seems most appropriate and that can be stuck at. It should also give the individual enough hours of sleep. Seven hours or more is a healthy amount of time spent in bed.
Winding down for a blissful night’s sleep can be made easier with these tips introduced to the nighttime routine.
