Kent is known as the Garden of England, and if you live in or near this beautiful county, there are plenty of places for a romantic date. I’ve lived in Kent almost all of my life and had plenty of fun dates, so I’ve pulled together some of my favourites for you to choose from. Castles & Countryside – Kent Date Ideas
Leeds Castle
If you’ve ever been (or even seen pictures of, you’ll know that Leeds Castle is a fairy‑tale castle set on a lake. It’s perfect for romantic strolls or a twilight picnic. With maze, gardens, and “Luna Cinema” nights, it’s consistently a great place to make memories. Leeds Castle also offers one of the best firework displays in Kent.
Hever Castle & Gardens
Did you know that Hever Castle was once home to Anne Boleyn? You’ll find its Tudor grandeur and sprawling grounds a dream for a romantic stroll, followed by a quiet café lunch.
Penshurst Place
A moated manor surrounded by woodlands. This is a great location for a romantic date with your special one.
Bedgebury Forest
This is a great location for a day out. Pack a picnic and your walking shoes and enjoy a day looking at the glorious trees before picnicking by the lake. The peace and quiet will allow you to get deep into conversation in this beautiful place. If you are visiting around Christmas, why not take a wander through the Bedgbury Christmas Light Trail?

Royal Tunbridge Wells
I love Tunbridge Wells for a day out. You could start with a coffee date on the Pantiles. Following with a wander through its elegant colonnades, browsing in the local boutiques. Or you could plan an evening date and catch the jazz on a Thursday night. It’s the perfect place for romance to blossom.
Folkestone Harbour Arm & Creative Quarter
I’d suggest heading there on a weekend evening. You and your partner can enjoy live music, share a hot dog and sip on a craft beer from The Curious Brewery – all with sea views under the stars. It’s the ideal place for a date.
Canterbury
There’s nothing more romantic than punting along the River Stour, followed by a visit to Canterbury’s iconic cathedral. Stop for a coffee and a bite to eat at one of the indie cafés. You could even extend your date by watching a show at The Marlowe Theatre – it’s the best place for some of the top shows.
Faversham
The town of Faversham is a hidden gem. You can browse through the local businesses and vintage shops down by the creek before stopping for a bite to eat. There are lots of places to get a drink and get the conversation flowing.

Dreamland Margate
Why not relive childhood wonders with rides, a retro roller room, arcades, retro game rooms and ice‑creams at Dreamland? It would make for a really fun day out.
Whitstable
Or if you are looking for something slower paced, why not head to Whitstable? It has a beautiful beach where you can enjoy a hand-in-hand shoreline walk and then a seafood lunch. Hint – try the Oysters. It’s what Whitstable is famous for!
Brewery & Vineyard Delights – Kent Date Ideas
The Curious Brewery (Ashford)
Take in a tour, sup on a craft beer and hopefully your conversation will flow in this hop‑fuelled setting.
Chapel Down, Hush Heath & Balfour Vineyard
Kent’s Napa Valley‑style wine destinations offer tasting sessions and glorious restaurants – but all in the Kent area. You can eat and drink your way through your date with fantastic food and hopefully, also fantastic conversation.
Shepherd Neame
The Brewery in Faversham offers tours and tastings on a regular basis. You’ll be quite amazed at the scale of the operation in this little town, and you might also enjoy tasting the beers too.

Kent Downs & National Trails
Why not lace up and take in one of the trails across the Kent Downs? There are routes suitable for all levels of abilities and lengths of dates. There’s so much to see, especially in the spring and summer months.
Dover
You could choose to explore the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, including the infamous Dover Castle. For a more memorable date, why not join one of the seal watching trips and take in the waterside view of the White Cliffs from the English Channel?
Lower Leas Coastal Park (Folkestone)
A wild garden meets amphitheatre meets climbing frames. You can throw a frisbee, pick fresh flowers and bond over shared snacks in this wonderfully outdoorsy date.
Betteshanger Park
For a more active date, why not try your hand at mountain biking, e‑spider rides or geocaching? Pack a romantic picnic and make a day of it.
Cyclopark
For those who enjoy a bike ride, you could head to the Cyclopark in Gravesend for your date. It’s perfect for a more active date, and then you can enjoy a refreshing drink in the café afterwards.
Bluewater
If you and your date are feeling adventurous, why not try out the huge zipline that runs at Bluewater shopping centre? It’s not for the faint-hearted!

You could see how you work as a team and book one of the many Escape Rooms in Kent. There’s a big selection in Gravesend which are wonderful.

From Oast Theatre’s quirky nights in Tonbridge to Folkestone’s Harbour Arm live bands, fun and laughter await you and your date.
Boom Battle Bar
Why not bond over axe‑throwing & board games? It’s definitely unique and would be a date to remember. Challenge each other over darts, axe‑throwing, or Catan-inspired board games.

Form a two-person team and take on the challenges inside the rooms at Prison Island in Maidstone in Kent. See if you work well as a pair – your success (or failure) will depend on it.

Valentine’s Day – Choose a candlelit castle dinner, a fairy‑tale castle twilight walk at Leeds, or settle into a cosy pub by roaring fires. A romantic meal on Valentine’s Day is a must!

Christmas Dates – Why not try out one of the illuminated light trails across Kent? I can highly recommend the walk through Bedgebury Forest. It’s quite magical.

Nooks like Captain Digby at Kingsgate Bay offer sea view pints and Sunday roasts which will get your heart racing.
A lovely bike ride is the Crab and Winkle Way, which is a route through gorgeous countryside. Perfect for a more active date.

I’d suggest checking the time of year and finding out what’s happening where you are going. Wildflowers are best seen in late spring. Orchards host lots of events in the Summer, and wine tours can be perfect in Autumn. Cosy pubs and Christmas light trails are perfect for winter.
