My Growing Baby Bump
It’s a really strange thing being pregnant. It’s really hard to describe how it makes you feel and something that each person will have a different experience of. I’m now 17 weeks, so I’ve had my initial scan and a couple of midwife appointments, including one where we excitedly listened to the baby’s heartbeat.
I’ve got a lovely baby bump, which may have been enhanced by a mince pie (or twelve) over Christmas. It’s lovely. If I’m being honest I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about developing a big tummy. I suppose most pregnant women feel the same. Would I just feel fat and unattractive? The answer for me if no. I’ve embrace my new maternity wardrobe, buying some fabulous jeans and leggings, plus also a couple of dresses for when I get bigger (I can still fit in my dresses at the moment) so I feel great about my ever-growing bump.
People who have recently given birth or are a few months on from me recommended me to visit H&M and New Look for their maternity ranges. After a bit of digging through the plethora of size 4s and 6s in the H&M maternity ranges, I found some wonderful bits. Hint to H&M though, perhaps don’t reorder the size 4 and 6 maternity jeans if only a few people are buying these. I honestly had to sift through 50 pairs to find any other sizes. But it was well worth it as my new wardrobe staples are brilliant. New Look was a home delivery affair and a great experience, especially as one of the dresses was faulty and they offered me a free delivery code to order a replacement. Thanks New Look!
So back to the baby bump. It’s a lovely feeling knowing that you are carrying such precious cargo and in just a few short months’ time that it will take over your life as you know it and you’ll be fully responsible for another human being. Exciting and scary at the same time. So for now I’m loving my bump. I’m sure as he or she grows I’ll be moaning about the inevitable backache or stretch marks, or any other affliction that becomes the pregnant woman, but for now I’m thrilled.
How did you feel about your growing baby bump? I’d love to hear from you.
